It does suck I have to pay for some features
But either way it's a really good app and I use it for practically all of my stories plus no ai!
It sucks and it’s paywall
This app is too overwhelming to navigate through and most of the features is locked behind a paywall. No thank you, I rather write in Google Doc than support an app that paywalls.
Not recommended for young age writers
This app is NOT good writing your actually story is so complicated, there are so many confusing buttons, the intro was nice and I liked that bit but when I TRIED to write my story it wouldn’t appear it would just say “no sentences written” even though I spent half an hour writing on the app.It took me 20 mins to figure out how to type if you have worked this app out well done👏. I just wouldn’t recommend for children other wise it is good…please don’t take this the wrong way or in a mean way.

Crashes a lot
Every time I attempt to open my boards the app crashes or tells me to restart my device which I have done and it still doesn’t work :(

It’s a really good app and it helps with writing but I realised at the beginning it asked if I wanted to write a story, script, comic etc… and I chose story, but now when I wanna create another one but as a script for example, but it won’t, it’s still on story mode! But overall it’s a good app but I want to figure out what the problem is. ❤️

great app for the most part!
What the title says, it's a great app, been using it for months! However some of the features are a little difficult to navigate at first, and i can't figure out how to remove images from character profiles. which means if i want to change an image i have to recreate the entire character profile which is rly tedious.
i have tried to google how to do this but that has been unreliable too. Otherwise a great app, but i think some features should be made easier to use (like the one i just mentioned)
if there's already a way to remove an image i would love to know, idk if it matters but im using this app on ios (specifically ipad) so idk if that changes what features are available or not. i'd rly love some feedback on how to remove pics pls!

The update ruined it
I’m not sure if you guys care about your reviews but I really liked this app until the update which frustrates me so damn much. First, the app forced me to update it which would have been fine if those stupid extra things didn’t change the app age rating?? I don’t even need a family tree or that other stuff. I have overly strict parents who set my devices so that it seems like I’m a ten year old so that I can’t download Snapchat, etc, which is fine. But they also placed a time limit on my notes app so I’m not always writing. Now my device has offloaded Fortelling which again would be fine but I used to write A LOT even my diary. Now I can’t get my stuff back because the website version has some “limited” element thing which prevents me from using the keyboard which now won’t let me copy and paste my things into my phone notes. What am I supposed to do now?? Sorry this comes off as a rant but I’m genuinely frustrated and don’t usually write reviews

Why not have family tree free?
Now, I love this writing thingy app. It's so fun and organized. The community is funny and very creative and it's polls and such probably community driven. I'm not in ALL of that but I can understand it. Anyways, the recent update with family trees I think its pro? Like, I completely understand you need to make money but I truly think making that free or a small option free can make it feel like the COMMUNITY can enjoy. Not everyone wants to spend money like they. It's nice to dally with it! I feel like letting it be free could let people have fun while also letting pro have better options..? I'm really bad at articulation and wording so I'm sorry if it's kinda hard to read. Anyways, excellent app, love it. 5/5. 9.4/10!

Came back and was disappointed
Over all it is generally quite good, but most features are only for people who pay for Pro. I’ve been using Pages recently instead, but I came back and discovered that the family tree feature had been added. So I made a new account and stuff, then went and tried to make a family tree, but what the update hadn’t said was that you have to pay for Pro just to make a family tree. Really disappointed by that because I’ve been looking forwards to this feature for ages and now can’t access it. Honestly I think at this point I’d say that Pages is better 😕

Anywho I really love this app it helps me keep track of my OCS, my story, everything. I love it. The only downside I can think of is that its confusing at times. For example, sometimes I'm just not sure where anything is on the app and it takes me a minute to find it. So I guess im saying I wish it was easier to use? (Even though its already pretty easy lol) but yea. It's a great app 5/5 i totally recommend!!!!!!!!

WHY IS FAMILY TREE A PREMIUM FEATURE?? THATS LITERALLY A KEY PART OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Imma have to stick with the classic board setting to make it or just get a whole different app to do it, I hate that
Problem with new Family Tree Feature
I’m not typically so upset about these things, but the fact that the family tree is behind a paywall is infuriating. There’s no reason for it to be behind one, and yes, I understand the app must make money SOMEHOW but I feel like only customization features like changing the app logo, or theme and things that don’t have anything to do with storytelling should be behind a paywall. I suppose I can always just find a new storytelling app.

Best OC organisation app / site
Been using Fortelling for a good half a year now and the way everything is grouped, laid out and organised is super intuitive and convenient. It beats all the other sites like Character Hub by a mile (though I still do love Character Hub for its discoverability)
A little sad the web version is subscription only, but honestly the price is worth it if it’s used regularly.

I love this app but it doesn’t have all the options to store the different type of information for my story (etc: if I have lore I just want to write down I cant) besides that it is great! It has challenges to strengthen your writing skills and many options for your story! Would recommend

I am a young writer who recently finished my first 80k word novel, and I am currently in the developmental editing phases. I got this app thinking I could maybe write some facts about my characters in it or something like that. Turns out it was much much more than that. writing, statistics, timeline, characters, groups, locations, species items, languages boards, and files all managed in the same place along with chapter organization, scene, organization, and detailed character descriptions. This is an all-in-one app beyond anything I have ever seen before! I haven’t even used that many of the writing privileges because I started writing on Word before I even got to this app and I’m kind of upset that I didn’t because of the outstanding scene organization! The fact that your projects can have multiple books inside of them is a HUGE plus because of the fact that your charecters and details are saved in every book for you to look at while writing!!!!! I’m going to. wrap up this review, but I haven’t even said half of the amazing features this app has. GET FORTELLING!

Everything I could hope for
I have began writing as a side passion project and have no formal training or guidance beyond what you learn in English comp in school. This app has helped me identify important aspects I was overlooking when it was just me and Microsoft word. It has everything I could hope for in one easy to use app. I love it!
