Great game!

Good logic and balance of difficulties. Love it.

Good game

There was a steep learning curve at the beginning but once a got the hang of how it worked, I really enjoyed it.

A Delightful First Chapter (of Hopefully More?)

Fox Detective is a fun combination of mostly puzzle game with comics. The interface is simple and easy to use, and the puzzles range from fairly easy to challenging. Two requests and one bug report (maybe?) to the developers: Request 1. When an inventory item is used and no longer needed, please remove it from the inventory, even if it does not physically stay in the place where it got used, like the gears do, so the player's inventory is not full of superfluous items. Request 2. When an inventory item needs to be referenced for a puzzle, please let it stay on the screen somehow; the chess board required going back and forth between inventory and puzzle quite a bit before I managed to sufficiently get the pattern. Maybe bug report: I absolutely did not see any hint of a seven in the painting that was supposed to suggest a seven. I had to get that from a walkthrough video, and the video showed me no hint of a seven, either. Either I am really missing something in that painting, or that design is a bug. I make these comments out of affection; I really enjoyed the game and hope to see more like this, and hope, too, for the game (and subsequent chapters) to be the best it can be.

Yes, it is solvable!

But while it is quite short, it is not at all easy. If you want an interesting challenge, try this one. However, if you are easily frustrated you will probably find this rough going.

There are walkthroughs available if you search 'fox detective walkthrough', but its obviously far more interesting if you do as much as you can by yourself.

Bug: can’t exit inventory

It doesn’t appear to be possible to leave the inventory screen. You have to quit the app and restart it. Frustrating.
