About

Fretboard is a guitar chord builder that lets you see what you're playing, hear it back, and understand why it works. Tap the fretboard to build any chord shape. The app identifies what you've built in real time — major, minor, seventh, sus, dim, slash chords, all of it. Pick from a library of standard voicings or create your own. Then see which chords fit the same key and which ones sound good together. Once you've found chords you like, drop them into the progression builder. Set the strum count, dial in the tempo, and hit play. Real sampled guitar audio — not MIDI, not synthesis. Save your progressions to come back to later. No account required. No internet needed. Everything stays on your device. WHAT YOU CAN DO Build any chord voicing on an interactive 6-string fretboard See the chord name update in real time as you change finger positions Browse and load standard voicings — majors, minors, 7ths, sus, dim, aug, and more View chords in the same key and discover related chord suggestions Assemble chord progressions with drag-to-reorder slots Set strum count per chord and adjust BPM with a slider or tap tempo Play back progressions with real guitar samples and loop playback Save, name, and organize progressions in your local library WHO IT'S FOR Fretboard is built for guitarists who want to understand what they're playing — not just memorize shapes. Whether you're just starting out and learning your first chord transitions, or you're an intermediate player experimenting with chord substitutions and key relationships, this app gives you the tools without the clutter. No gamification. No subscriptions. No ads. Just a clean tool that does what it says. AUDIO Every strum uses sampled acoustic guitar recordings with natural string cascade timing. Muted strings stay silent. It sounds like a guitar because it is a guitar. Built with SwiftUI for iOS 17+.
