New to the reading world

Love everything about it

Welcome to the reading world! We’re thrilled you’re loving FreeBooks and hope you discover many wonderful stories along the way. Thanks for the fantastic review! — Ed

Blah

if you like to track your reads on apps like goodreads this isn’t for you. everything i’ve wanted to read isn’t listed anywhere. and i’ve never heard of most of these titles

Response from developer

Thanks for the honest feedback. We’re sorry you couldn’t find titles that interested you in our current catalog. FreeBooks also doesn’t currently support Goodreads syncing just yet. We understand this won’t suit every reader, and we appreciate your feedback on our catalog, discovery, and tracking features. — Ed

Great reading app

I love this reading app as it allows me to customize the text I’m reading but it also allows you to recap on everything that you have read so far making it easy to remember everything in the story.

AI slop

Don’t waste your time. Everything on this app is AI . They use bots to confuse you into thinking the “books” are interesting. It’s disheartening. The authors don’t exist either . Some stories even mention “Ai” to sound more natural. Then they ask you to pay for more AI slop. Just another lazy company taking advantage of people for money.

Hi, thanks for the feedback — we’re sorry you weren’t able to find books or stories you enjoyed on FreeBooks. We do want to clarify one important point: the ratings and reviews shown in the app come from real readers, not bots or fake accounts. If you noticed something in a story’s text that looked wrong, we’d like to review it — please send the title to hello@freebooksapp.org and we’ll take a look. — Ed from FreeBooks

✌️

such a good app!

Needs more popular and representation books

The title says it all

It’s good but with important caveats!

Instantly made me create an account without letting me look at what they had to offer, then prompted me to create a review without looking at what they had to offer, then paywalled me after saying that the app is FreeBooks. Has a lot of AI generated cover art not sure if the books are made with AI but the cover art is. With all that being said there are some interesting stories on here. The app is beautifully designed listening to the stories is simple and quick if you want to read they give you that option well just know that the app isn’t free. It’s paywalled. Wish they’d not lie about that but that it is a good app. Despite that all that

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for the thoughtful feedback — and for the kind words about the design, stories, and listening experience. We’re sorry the account, review prompt, and FreeBooks+ trial flow made the app feel paywalled before you could properly explore it. FreeBooks can be used for free: you can read books online without a subscription, and listen to 3 free audiobooks each month. FreeBooks+ is only our optional upgrade for offline downloads, unlimited audiobooks, and an ad-free experience. If you reopen the app, you should now go straight into the free version. We’re also improving the onboarding wording and flow so this is much clearer from the start. — Ed from FreeBooks

NOT FREE

Why title the app FREE BOOKS and then immediately try to charge me $39.99?

Limited choice of books

I typed in at least 10 classics and not a single one was in this app

Not free

Makes me get free books plus when making account with way to x

free?

How are you going to say the books are free and you can read any time but then it costs 40 dollars per year? Do not advertise something is free when it is not. That is false advertisement. The only thing that is free is the free trail.

Response from developer

Hi Skyrinks, thanks for the feedback, and sorry the FreeBooks+ trial screen made this confusing. FreeBooks is free to use — you can read online for free with no subscription required, and listen to 3 free audiobooks each month. The 7-day trial is only for FreeBooks+, our optional upgrade for offline downloads, unlimited audiobooks, and no ads. If you open the app again, you should now go straight into the free app. We’re improving the wording and flow to make this much clearer.

I love FreeBooks

I love too read before bed it really helps me wind down my mind and helps me sleep better at night

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the lovely review! We’re really happy to hear FreeBooks has become part of your bedtime routine and helps you unwind at night. Happy reading, and we hope you keep finding stories you love ❤️

NOT FREE

I downloaded this app because it says free but it’s not. You get a trial period and then you pay afterwards. Not for me and I thought I would let others know.

Response from developer

Hi Letsal, thanks for taking the time to review — and sorry for any confusion. To be clear, the core FreeBooks app is completely free to use for reading books online, no trial or payment required. What you saw is FreeBooks+, our optional premium upgrade that lets you download books for offline reading and removes ads. You're welcome to keep using the free version as long as you like. If you ever have trouble finding the free reading experience, drop us a line and we'll point you in the right direction. Happy reading!

The best book I read

Relaxing a mystery

free books

It’s ok to me

no variety

i got this app and was really excited, because it seemed legit and easy to use. i've been looking for free book apps so that i read more often. i have a very wide taste of books. i read classics, such as osamu dazai, fyodor d, scott fitzgerald, and let me tell you.. they had NOTHING that even peaked my interest in the slightest. absolutely nothing. only boring sci fi romances that were made by low budget, unknown authors. thanks, but i will be uninstalling. good luck with this app.

Response from developer

Thanks for the honest feedback, and we’re sorry FreeBooks didn’t have the kind of variety you were hoping for. We know readers have very different tastes, and we’re always working to bring more authors, genres and styles into the app so the library feels broader and more diverse over time. Your feedback is noted, especially around wanting a wider mix beyond the stories you saw. We appreciate you giving FreeBooks a try, and we hope there’ll be more in the app that interests you in future.

Confused

I was under the impression that this was a free reading app. Then I get to a certain point where it says free trial for 7 days. $39.99 a month after that. Did I miss something? I don’t understand how that is free.

NOT Freebooks

There is NOTHING about this app that is FREE. Liars.

Bro

It looked good I was answering the questions with no problem but it asked me for a free books+ trial? Now I’m confused because the app is called freebooks but you HAVE to get the trial there is no continue for free etc button.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry the FreeBooks+ screen made this confusing. FreeBooks is free to use — you can read online for free and listen to 3 free audiobooks per month without subscribing. FreeBooks+ is just an optional upgrade for offline downloads, unlimited audiobooks and no ads. If you open the app again, you should now go straight into the free app. We’re updating the wording to make this much clearer.
