What's New in Freedom Chat

4.33

August 26, 2026

This update introduces a major upgrade to Freedom Chat’s security infrastructure, designed to strengthen the protection of your conversations today and into the future. • AES-256 Encryption: Industry-leading encryption designed to remain highly secure as computing capabilities advance. • Quantum-Resistant Security: New protections incorporating NIST standards designed to help safeguard against emerging quantum-computing threats. • Forward & Backward Secrecy: Enhanced key protection helps ensure that if an individual encryption key is ever compromised, it cannot be used to unlock your complete conversation history or provide continued access to future messages. • Automatic Key Rotation: Encryption keys are refreshed regularly to further limit exposure and strengthen long-term protection. • Improved Performance: Faster decryption and improved loading performance for images and videos. This upgrade required us to replace our underlying encryption library. As a result, conversations secured using the previous encryption system cannot be carried over and will no longer be available. We recognize the inconvenience this may cause. This transition provides Freedom Chat with a stronger, more resilient security foundation built to protect your communications as AI, cybersecurity threats, and computing technologies continue to evolve.

The Jury is Out

Someone invited me to join this “new” chat/text system. I joined on my iPad, then was immediately solicited to “upgrade” to premium for $52.99/yr, so I did this morning. An hour or so later, I still am not seeing the upgrade although the charge has successfully posted to my cc. So I messaged the company about it. Waiting for a response. Meanwhile, I downloaded the app to my iPhone and tried to sign in. It asks for my phone number, the pin that I created and then is supposed to send a code to complete the sign in. I did this 3 or 4 times and am STILL waiting for any code sent in to cyber space. (In other words, the log in goes no where since no code to “verify” my identity ever arrives). Clearly this is not ready for public use. I will revise my review if and when this is resolved. Meanwhile, I am giving them 24 hours to fix the issues or refund my money. Hoping for the best but not holding my breath.
