About

FreeRange Dryfire turns your iPhone into a dry-fire training range. Save money...ammunition is expensive, train at home before you go to the range. Chamber an in-cartridge laser trainer, point your phone's camera at a paper target, and FreeRange DryFire detects every laser pulse, maps it to the exact spot on the target, scores it against the target's zones, and records it as a shot. No live ammunition — just focused, repeatable practice at home...on any target. Train with purpose Go beyond blasting away at paper. Run structured drills built around real skills: • Par-time, draw, and reload drills on a shot timer • Transitions and zone-calling drills that make you read a cue and engage the right target • The USPSA classification ladder — draw, transition, and reload standards that report an honest class • Recall, a memory-ladder game that grows a target sequence every rep Any Target • Train on the same targets you shoot at the range. There's no need for specialized proprietary targets • Built in target creation tool lets you define hit boxes on commercial targets that you already own or purchase at your favorite sporting goods store. • Ships with hit box definitions for several well known target manufacturers to work out of the box. A built-in barcode scanner can also remember and load the settings for targets that have them. • Print reduced-scale USPSA and IPSC silhouettes at home, each with a built-in calibration bar and a setup code you scan to configure your session in one tap. See where every shot went • Live scoring and group analysis, shot by shot • Precision and dispersion stats done right — accuracy and precision reported separately, outliers surfaced instead of hidden • Split times, cadence, transition times, and hit factor • A plain-language takeaway after every session Profiles and Armory • Create multiple profiles to track stats individually • Weapons armory builds detailed information about your firearms to make the app more detailed and accurate Zero your optic A distance-aware zeroing tool captures your laser/bore offset and corrects for sight-height-over-bore, so your scoring stays honest at any training distance. Includes a boresight zeroing aid. Track your progress Streaks, goals, milestones, personal records, and progression trends that only claim improvement when the data actually supports it. A daily challenge keeps you coming back. Private by design Everything runs on your device. No account, no sign-in, no server, no tracking. The app makes no network connections except to Apple for purchases. FreeRange Pro unlocks the full drill library, the USPSA and IPSC standards ladder, the progression trend cards, the personal-record wall, and every premium target pack. Your first session with each Pro drill is on us. — FreeRange Dryfire is a dry-fire training aid. Always confirm your firearm is unloaded before every session. What's New in FreeRange Dryfire

1.0.5

September 7, 2026

Tutorials • Expanded the How it works menu for every drill. This now includes what the drill measures, what you'll hear, and what to do at each step. - When you choose a drill, the menu now appears below the name of the drill. • Added a new Tips & Tricks for target placement view in the Start Session screen. This contains helpful tips on how to maximize your session setup. - It is located near the bottom with the other tools. • Added a link to the setup guide website (an external website). - It is located at the bottom of the session setup menu for easy access. Improvements to the Goals system • Track and visualize the goals that matter most to you. There is now a toggle to mark any goal as tracked and it gets a chart on the Progress tab. - The toggle is located on the goal setup screen. • Added a new goal called Consistent draw. - Drawing from the holster is a core skill for anyone who carries concealed. Set a time, a window and a rate - "80% of my last 20 draws under 2.0 s" - The app keeps track of your recent timed-draw and par-time reps, to meet the goal you have to consistently beat the par time that you set for yourself. - There is now a chart in the Progress view that helps you track it over time. • Renamed some of the goals to reflect their daily cadence. • Moved the Today's challenge box to the Shoot tab from the Progress tab, now you see it before you start a session. Improvements to the lock target workflow when setting up a drill • Sometimes there just isn't enough contrast for the camera to tell the difference between the wall and the target (white on white for example). There is now a button to manually place the orange box on the screen. Tapping that button will make the box appear and you can drag from there. • When you zoom the screen and the edges of the orange box are now off-screen, the box should now snap into view a bit quicker...but if it doesn't there is now a re-center box button that will force it into view. The re-center button appears any time the edges of the orange box are no longer visible. • You can now help the detector find the target by tapping the target on-screen with your finger. Tapping the target will show a small box which tells the camera where it should focus, similar to focusing the camera when taking a picture. Bug Fixes • Tapping the streak strip on the Shoot view now jumps to your goals page like it was originally intended to do. •Editing a goal no longer resets its target.
