What no recording?
Really rubbish that remote recording has gone. That was the only reason for having the app.

No Ads, slick easy interface. Better than all the other TV guide Apps.
Good listings app
Unlike the previous iteration, this version of the app is just a programme guide. In that respect it's very good, but it would be nice to be able to interact with the Freesat box, which I can do with my Freeview box using its associated app.

Ok, but better when it could schedule records
The app needs to return to the supreme functionality it USED TO HAVE - where it would remotely display what channel the set-top box was running on, and it would allow scheduling future recordings from the guide and remotely control current playback over WiFi. It was once BEST IN CLASS - bring that back - PLEASE!!

Probably the most pointless app
What’s the point of this, you used to be able to remotely record, now just a poor tv guide.
Even better if you could record
Why on early would you want to see whats on tv, set reminders, but not set the programme to record? I believe that you used to be able to, but the feature was removed from the app. Odd that Sky can manage to do it. Please bring it back!

App needs the ability/option to allow you to record from it. Otherwise good..

Loving Freesat i cancelled my Sky, bought the 4K box hooked it up to the Sky Q dish and never looked back. I can record 4 programs at same time, set reminders, watch catchup and access tv apps, the tv guide is great and the best thing about it, it's free.

Tv covered
We have been using Free sat for years originally with a mobile dish and box for use on holiday. We then used it when in our holiday home. We now have 2 TVs in our home running off Free Sat.

The format for TV guide is great. It would be even better if we were able to record remotely through this app.

Why do organisations update apps but remove the original (useful) facilities? I have no idea, but that’s what Freesat have done. For reasons I cannot begin to understand, the once useful facility to set recordings through the app was taken away. That was about 50% of the value.

They have removed the ability to set recordings remotely from the app, we used this feature all the time. Now the app is pointless so will be deleting it.

I have had 2 freesat boxes for a number of years. In July 2025 I discovered that I could no longer record programming remotely. Freesat gave no notice of this retrograde step, in fact their app confirmed that recordings were taking place. Yesterday I bought a replacement box (different manufacturer from Humax) which said, on the label, “record remotely with an internet-enabled device”. This was untrue. This appears to be a breach of the Consumer Protection Act 2015. I will be taking further action.

Now there is no remote recording the app only works as a tv magazine,

Doesn’t do what it said on the tin. It is simply a program guide to remind you of what you are missing while you are out. Only bought the box today - downloaded the app - now gunna delete it again
