FreshTrack tracks expiry dates for your pantry, fridge and freezer, and does something almost no other app does: it knows what's inside each food container the moment you tap your iPhone on an NFC tag.
Add products by scanning the barcode: the entry fills itself in, and AI reads the label for you.
Free, no ads, no in-app purchases, no account needed.
CONTAINERS WITH NFC TAGS
• Stick a rewritable NFC tag on the lid, write it from the app, then tap your iPhone to see what's inside and when it expires.
• Expiry is calculated from the food type and where you store it.
• Empty the container and the tag gets reused: just rewrite it for what's next.
ADDING IS SCANNING
• Point at the barcode and the entry fills itself in with an online lookup. No typing.
• Barcode and QR, with tap to focus.
• Type, location and standard shelf life set automatically, with multipacks detected ("24 × 330 ml" → 24 units).
SAME PRODUCT, DIFFERENT DATES
• If you have several units of the same product with different expiry dates, the list no longer repeats the row: it merges them into one card with the total and the split by date.
• It always uses up whichever expires first, and the app tells you which date it came from and how many units are left.
• The product detail screen has a strip to see each date on its own.
AI READS THE LABEL
• Apple Intelligence reads the package with the camera: date, lot, nutrition, ingredients and allergens. That reading happens on your device.
• Each product photo is generated with Image Playground, in one consistent style. Depending on the device, Apple processes it on your iPhone or on Private Cloud Compute — it never reaches our servers or anyone else's.
• Requires an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence. Dates suggested by product type and AI-read data are guidance only: always check the label.
SMART ALERTS
• One alert a day per section (products and containers), grouped by urgency, no spam; you choose how far in advance.
• Clear groups: expired, today, this week.
• A widget to see what's expiring without opening the app.
ASK SIRI
• "What's expiring in FreshTrack?", "What's in the freezer in FreshTrack?", "Do I have anything left in FreshTrack?": Siri answers out loud with a card, without opening the app.
• Mark a product as used up or bought, empty a container, or open the scanner, all by voice.
• From the Shortcuts app, build your own queries, like "fridge items expiring in under three days".
• Your products and containers also show up in iPhone search (Spotlight).
ALL YOUR HOMES
• Your everyday home, the beach house, the village house: each with its own pantry, containers, list and settings.
• Switch homes in two taps, synced with iCloud across your devices.
• Custom accent color and app icon per home.
SHOPPING, COME FULL CIRCLE
• What you consume goes to the history, and from the history to the shopping list in one gesture.
• Mark as bought with one tap, with a note per item.
• Back from the store, rescan and the product re-adds itself with all its data; the camera reads the expiry date printed on the package, or set the standard one with a tap.
PRIVACY, FOR REAL
• FreshTrack doesn't collect your data: everything lives on your device and in your private iCloud. No account, no sign-in.
