About

Learn the neck, play it with your own fingers, and write your own tabs — with real recorded guitar, drums and a full multitrack editor. Made by one person who plays guitar, for people who play at home. Every sound was recorded string by string, and nothing you play leaves your phone. Pick a key and the fretboard lights up. Build progressions, jam over them, and turn what you played into tabs. THE FRETBOARD • Every key and scale on a circle of fifths, with each key's sharps and neighbours • Notes coloured by scale degree; show note names, degrees or both • See any chord as a real shape, anywhere on the neck • Alternate tunings: Drop D, DADGAD, Open G and others A NECK YOU CAN PLAY A full-screen guitar under your fingers. • Any chord in any key, standard or your own voicing, slid along the neck as it sounds • Swipe across the strings and the chord follows your finger, note by note • Solo over the progression as it plays, with the CAGED shapes lit • Record what you played straight into a tab LEARN A course written by hand, in plain language, out of cards you play rather than paragraphs to picture. • Chords, scales, CAGED, keys and progressions, then technique: picking, palm mutes and riffs, bends, slides, vibrato, legato and sweeping • Interactive cards: chord shapes heard string by string, neck diagrams, strum arrows, technique drills with a tempo dial • Checkpoints that listen: play the chord or the bend and the app says whether it landed • Practice games for note finding, intervals, scale degrees and arpeggios PRACTICE THAT IS NEVER THE SAME TWICE Pick a key and a level; the drill generator writes you an exercise with a band under it. • Scales and picking, chord tones and target notes, melodic phrasing, alternate picking, legato, sweeping and arpeggios • Ten levels, from one note a beat to seventh-chord sweeps • Not AI: a few hundred practice routines, plus some combinatorics • Lessons build their own drills too HEAR WHAT YOU ACTUALLY PLAYED Plug in through an audio interface, play a tab, and the app tells you how it went. • Timing and notes measured against the tab, with bends, slides and mutes heard as techniques • Choose how forgiving it should be, from strict to gentle • It happens on your phone: nothing recorded, stored or uploaded, no account needed JAM AND PRACTISE • Build progressions from the chords in your key, or add your own voicings • Dozens of strum and fingerpicking patterns played close to a real hand • Real drum grooves in 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, 12/8, 5/4 and 7/8 METRONOME AND TUNER • A metronome with a screen of its own: tap tempo, any time signature, drum grooves • Silent bars: the click drops out and returns on the downbeat, so you hear how far you drifted • A chromatic tuner that follows the tuning you picked TAB EDITOR • A full multitrack editor built for touch: hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, bends, palm mutes • A drum track alongside your guitar • Piano, bass, strings, winds and synths on their own tracks, written on a staff • Import .gp files from Guitar Pro 7 and 8, then read, play or edit them like your own LIBRARY • Ready-made progressions, arpeggios and strum patterns • Capture your own patterns and reuse them from any root FREE AND PRO Free: the whole course — all eighty-three lessons, end to end — every game, the playable neck, metronome, tuner and three saved songs. No lesson is behind a paywall. Pro adds unlimited songs and cloud sync, your own captured patterns, overdriven and distorted guitar, and no Pro reminders on the neck. FRETRIDE Pro is a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription, charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. It renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, and is managed in your Apple ID settings. What's New in Fretride

1.1.6

September 4, 2026

- The circle of fifths is clearer to read and easier to use: the degrees stand out, and the modes make more sense. - Long presses behave better everywhere in the app. - Fixed: playback could start somewhere other than the top of the bar. - The drill generator got better at chord tones. - The metronome can now slow a song down or speed it up on the fly, without changing the song's own tempo. - Every lesson is free now. Hiding half the course behind Pro was the wrong call, and I have taken it back. Next: - Recorded samples for the synthesized instruments. - More lessons, and more depth in the existing ones. - More work on the drill generator. - Shared tabs.
