Very good

My kids love this game and it’s a fun way to practice HFW. I just wish it were easier to assess and customize which words they see. You can take words on and off, but the lists are all mixed up so I have to hunt through all the lists. It’s tedious.

Great for learning sight words

My only complaint is that the lists are in a random order. 5 star if fixed

Fun

Great way for kids to practice sight words!

Sound?

What happened to the sound?

Developers…. Please read!

Please please please put the word list toggles in order in the parent portal!! They are all out of order and hard to find. This would make the app 5 stars!

Be warned! Only works on iPad NOT iPhone.

No dual platform... you need pay separately if you want both iPad and iPhone versions.

Not easy to customize at all!

Mostly great

I like that the words are in the same order as the Fry list but it is a lot of fussing to exclude words already known and figure out how many and which groups to include in order to have enough but not too many words appear, especially because you can’t tell how many words are turned on without opening the group. It would help if there were some instructions explaining the groups and word lists.

Really great App!

My son is dyslexic, has ADHD and is diagnosed with Aspergers. Reading and learning to read is a near impossible tasks or him. This App builds his knowledge of the written word, while keeping his attention long enough to allow both a visual and an auditory link to each word. I wish the App had the full 1000 words that one encounters 80% of the time in the English language. But I will take the 500! He is learning and recognizing his words without having to process, a difficult task in his situation. Thank you so much!

Poor design

My son only needs Lists 1 & 2 right now, but I have zero interest sitting here going word by word removing all of the other words he isn’t working on. Words also don’t show up all the way on the screen or the overlap and he ends marking the wrong word. It doesn’t even seem to notify him he hit the wrong words, just turns them black. He’d rather just have flash cards. I would not recommend this app.

Add words

This is a great game. I got it because of the success we had with Phonics Ninja. I go wish however that we could craft custom lists. I would love to be able to run a round of the game with each of his weekly sight words in it. It would be a fun way to study for his tests.

Does not much our schools list

I loved sight word ninja but the fry word version does not much my daughters schools list. To difficult to find the right words.

Great game but needs some improvement

Great game but needs some improvement. It's fun and the method is good. It would get 5 stars if it were easier to change the word list. The default seems to be the easiest words and even when you change it manually it keeps one easy word from each list and over tests that. I would love it if I could enter the words I want my child to learn, or if it would remember the player and build the difficulty. Just a few improvements and it would be 5 star all the way!

Love this app except one thing

I love this app...so customizable.

One negative...the word lists are out of order. Difficult to locate words. Fix this and I’ll give 5 stars!,!

Making own lists

I would love if there was an option to make your own list. That way my child could be learning his school specific sight words. Overall good app though, he loves fruit ninja so this being similar holds his attention.

No sound?!

My daughter loved this app the two times she could use it and then the sound went out and still won't work. I even tried downloading the app onto another device and same thing, no sound! Very frustrating.

Sound doesn’t work

No sound?! Pointless

This app has a bug in it not allowing any sound. How are you supposed to learn fry words if there is no audio input?! Supposedly you cut the word that is being said.. But without sound, what is the point?!

Fruit ninja

The words on the side do not come onto the screen. Otherwise it would be 5 stars. More game like to keep attention. With scoring they can understand so they can improve setting their own goals.

Bug

I notice on the higher levels, there is no sound on certain words. It becomes confusing because the words flash on the screen but you don't know which word you're supposed to slash. Other than that, this is a great learning tool for my sons.
