Responsive developer, super helpful app!

Well worth the price. I had an issue with syncing on iOS and the developer immediately responded, patched the issue, and had an update posted within days (thanks to Apple delays, not theirs!).

Broke MacOS

Created a FTP-FTP folder and won't let me delete users

Response from developer

Please contact me at anders@ftpfiles.app and I will do me best to help. App Store apps are installed and managed by the system and it should not be possible for apps to mess with macOS itself. Understanding your circumstances better could help me find a work-around for you and help me file a report to Apple engineers.

Update: bug in the app caused read and write problem

Working with the developer, they determined that there was a bug in the app that was not allowing to read and write with a single server set up. That has been fixed.
App now works as intended and seems to be a very useful tool now.
Thanks.

Response from developer

Thank you for emailing me about this issue. I was happy to be able to solve it.

The best

This’s the best FTP app

Worthless app without subscription

App is worthless without paying for the pro upgrade. You can set up, but you can’t read or write anything on FTP so the claim that it works in free mode with one connection is false. You can just see files, not upload or download files.

Response from developer

Thank you for emailing me about this issue. I was happy to be able to solve it.

False Advertising - Free is Not Free

Finally got it to connect to my telescope, but when I tried to transfer the data from the telescope to my computer, it pops up a screen listing the things that are included in the “free” and paid versions. Under “free” it has “download and upload from finder.” But up at the top it says “Download is a Pro Feature.” I will not buy from a company that can’t something like that straight.

Response from developer

I'm not sure why you are seeing this, but the reason this is not straight is because some users have infinite number of servers for free and other users have one server for free with the ability to download+upload for free. This changed with version 2026.8 and to avoid taking infinite free servers away from anyone that relied on that, the initial install of the app has to be version 2026.8 or later for users to get free upload+download for a single server. Old and new users get what was promised to them in the app description at the time of original download but the promise has changed. So what you are experiencing is not false advertising, but a complication added in the interest of users. Some kind of glitch has made the app confused about that the original downloaded version was and that is something I would like to improve. Please email me at anders@ftpfiles.app and I will find out why it is confused about this and what to do about it in your case.

pay wall

hit a paywall when I went to upload files

Indispensable!

This app makes it easy to transfer files from all my cloud instances and media servers to my IPhone and iPad. It is extremely useful and is well worth the cost of the pro version!

very poor

there are virtually available for free users

Great support

I purchased the lifetime license, installed the app on my iPad, and found that it did not display files correctly when connecting to the FTP service in Microsoft Server 2022. I contacted Anders by email; he responded immediately, and within 48 hours released an update that solved the problem. Amazing customer service. I enthusiastically recommend this app!

Good.

Many thanks. It is perfectly working for fresh installed iOS 18.7. But there is a few suggestions.

Please, add an option to to copy files with their original time stamp.

And there is a bug. When you share a photo from the Share Sheet menu, the rename file option does not work properly.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback. I will look into ways to improve this.

Problematic and Messy

Uninstall leaves things stuck on your hard drive. (Check your ~/Library/CloudStorage folder and try and delete the artifact…). Interface is cumbersome as volume is not mounted on your desktop as expected… cannot unmount volume using normal mechanism in the Finder. Has a rough time with self signed certs or expired certs, inhibiting use.

Response from developer

I’m sorry the app does not meet your expectations. It uses the moden mechanism to make Cloud Storage available on Mac as recommended by Apple which puts the files inside $HOME/Library/CloudStorage and this mechanism is becoming increasingly normal. Would like to hear how it has problems with certificates such that I can make improvements.

Amazing app

This does everything I need to do! A very handy tool for the belt.

Very good.

Very good. Thank you.

nice way of accessing files and directories on all my linux boxes :)

I've been looking for an easy way to access the files and directories on all my linux boxes directly from the files app on my ipad.

This saves me from having to set up samba on every box and just works out of the box since I always have ssh enabled.
