About
Fountains Nearby shows you where to refill your bottle — wherever you are.
439,000 public drinking fountains across 216 countries, on one map. No account,
no ads, no tracking. Just water.
ANYWHERE ON EARTH
Search any city, or tap Near me. Zoomed out, the map groups fountains into
counts so you can see at a glance where water is. Zoom in and they become
individual taps you can walk to.
KNOW BEFORE YOU WALK
Every fountain shows what OpenStreetMap knows about it: whether the water is
drinkable, whether a bottle fits under the tap, step-free access, whether it
costs anything, whether dogs can drink, and whether it only runs in summer.
Where something has not been checked in a long time, the app says so rather
than pretending it is current.
GETTING THERE
Open any fountain in Apple Maps or Google Maps, or look at the street first
with Look Around.
WHEN THE SIGNAL GOES
Anywhere you have already browsed keeps working offline. The app is explicit
about what it is showing you — saved data is labelled as saved, and an empty
map says it is empty instead of quietly showing you a different city.
MAKE THE MAP YOURS
Choose the pin icon, its colour and how strongly it shows, how many fountains
to draw at once, and whether to label them. Standard, satellite or hybrid.
WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM
OpenStreetMap, rebuilt weekly. Every fountain here was put on the map by
someone who walked past it. If one is missing or wrong, you can fix it at
openstreetmap.org and the correction reaches the app with the next rebuild.
