Not worth it

The word trace section you do not trace words but match letters.
The spelling section does not tell you what letters are not correct.
You want to shut off the voice for the game because it is so bad but then you would not be able to use.

Response from developer

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback. We have addressed some of the items that you have raised. We have also added many more features, word lists and other enhancements. The spelling section now clearly identifies if the letter was placed correctly. We have also completely overhauled the sound, both the voice talent as well as the in-game cues. We have heard positive feedback on these changes and hope that you have seen the improvements as well.

Sound

There is no sound. Please fix and then I'll rate again.

Response from developer

Sorry for the very late response to this. We have completely overhauled the sound, both the voice talent as well as the in-game cues.

No sound???

There is no sound on my game, so it is impossible to "find" all the words on level 3. You just have to take a guess at what word they want you to find.
Don't buy, waste of money!

Response from developer

Sorry for your frustration with the game. We have completely overhauled the sound, both the voice talent as well as the in-game cues. Also, the game was originally optimized for iPad even though it worked on iPhone. When different screen dimensions came out with iPhone X, the "find" sight words was hard to play. This has been fixed and works well on all Apple devices. Thanks for your feedback.

Can

I am a reading specialist and thought this app would be great. I like how you can pick your own words from the word list and I like the format of the games. Unfortunately, there is one HUGE problem with this app and it would confuse my students to use this app based on that problem. I teach "sight" words as "trick words" that are phonetically irregular (in other words, they can not be sounded out). I teach my students NOT to sound out these words, as do all ten of the phonics based curricula that my school uses. This app gives the sound of the letters as you are spelling the wordsโ€ฆ.for example with the word to, when you select the t it makes the sound /t/ and when you select the o it makes the short vowel sound of /o/ (as in the o in octopus)โ€ฆ.those two sounds do NOT make the word to. Blending /t/ with the short vowel /o/ would make the word taw (rhyme with saw). This app would be wonderful except for this one flaw. But this flaw is big enough that it would go against everything we teach young readers about sight words, sounds, and blending.

Response from developer

Thank you for bringing up your concern. Since these are sight words and we want our students to know them by sight and not sound, we have removed the letter sounds when a student selects a letter. We have also made it so you can add your own word lists. That way you can target the individual needs of your students. You can keep track of each student by adding their name and then viewing their scores on the results page. We hope that you will consider trying the app again and letting us know about your experience.

Good start

The app has 400 words. First time I used it, I'm finding words missing that my kindergartner and 1st grader are working on. "Laugh" as an example.

I like the fact that you can focus on words that you want to do, but the app needs improvement on the way you select your wordlist. The way it is now, you have to go through a painful process of flipping through four separate lists, very frustrating. Recommend a word search feature or if that is too hard, start with one long list in alphabetical order.

Also there should be a way to choose how many cycle to go through. Appears the app is going through wordlist randomly which is frustrating to kids that have to do a word they just did. App could go through one by one, and repeat words that were troublesome.

Response from developer

This is awesome feedback and we have released updates to many of the requests that you brought up. We now include all ten Fry word lists for a total of 1000 words. In addition you can now create your own word lists and words. To help navigate the lists we have added a search as you suggest. Additionally we go through all the selected words in the list rather than keep playing until the close the game. We appreciate your feedback and hope that the updates have improved your experience.

Helpful app, kid friendly

This app has a customizable feature so you can add the sight words as your child is assigned them at school! Not many other sight word apps have this feature.

No sound

Please help no sound would receive a 5 star if had sound

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. We have completely overhauled the sound, both the voice talent as well as the in-game cues.

Great app

Great app for practicing sight words. I use it with my Kindergarten class and my little grandchildren. Love the art work. Excellent word lists, and love being able to select the words I want to focus on.

Horrible voice

This would be a five star except for the terrible voice talent used. Please add an option for a different voice. Nice choice of sight words for kindergarten.

Response from developer

Thank you for your reply and this is something that we have worked on. We have completely overhauled the sound, both the voice talent as well as the in-game cues. We have added several other improvements as well like adding your own word lists and words which we hope you find beneficial.
