Squats and push-ups are the foundation of functional fitness. FunktionalFitness guides you from your very first workout all the way to completing 150 squats or 100 push-ups in a single set – step by step, day by day.
THE 3-LEVEL SYSTEM
Each exercise follows a carefully designed progression system:
Beginner – Build the basics
You start with manageable sets and gradually build up your endurance and technique. Perfect for anyone just starting out or getting back into training after a break.
Intermediate – Increase the intensity
The volume increases, the sets get longer, and the rest periods get shorter. You will feel your body getting stronger.
Pro – Reach peak performance
The ultimate challenge. Long sets, high overall volume, and a real test for every training day.
Progression to the next level happens automatically as soon as you have completed the required training days.
AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT DETECTION
You do not need to count for yourself. FunktionalFitness automatically detects your repetitions:
For squats, the app uses your iPhone’s built-in motion sensor. Simply put the device in your trouser pocket and start training – every properly performed squat will be detected.
For push-ups, the app uses the face-tracking camera. Your iPhone precisely measures the distance between your face and the floor, allowing it to detect every full repetition.
Alternatively, you can tap the large counting ring manually at any time – for example, if you are not carrying the device with you.
SMART TRAINING PLAN
Every workout is structured: multiple sets with fixed repetition targets and automatic rest timers between sets. You always know exactly what comes next.
Before starting Level 1, you can optionally complete a fitness test. You simply do as many repetitions in a row as possible. Based on your result, the app automatically calculates your ideal starting day – so you begin at the right level, neither underchallenged nor overwhelmed.
KEEP TRACK OF YOUR PROGRESS AT ALL TIMES
In the history tab, you can see all completed, cancelled, and unfinished workouts at a glance. Personal bests are highlighted. In the stats bar, you can see the number of your workouts, your personal record, and every repetition you have ever completed.

Apple Health Sync
Every workout is automatically saved to Apple Health – including calories burned, calculated using your body weight from the Health app. This means your workouts are seamlessly integrated into your health statistics.
Workout Reminders
The app automatically schedules notifications for your upcoming training days. And if you have taken a break for more than 5 days, you will receive a friendly nudge to help you get started again. You decide when you would like to be reminded.

All your data stays entirely on your device. There is no sign-up, no user account, and no cloud synchronisation. FunktionalFitness works completely offline.
