About
Galactic Score is a music app that lets you see a song as a 3D spiral, listen to it, play it and record it.
The keyboard is a spiral: low notes on the outside, high notes on the inside. Pitch rises a semitone at a time counterclockwise, one turn is an octave, and C always sits at 9 o'clock. Notes are pillars of light standing on their keys—height is time and length is duration. As a song plays, the keyboard disc climbs the tower, and every pillar it touches glows and rings like a music box.
SEE AND LISTEN • Three angles: Angled, Top and Side. Drag to rotate, pinch to zoom • Follow the playhead, or switch to Overview to see the whole song as a tower • Three color sets: Color wheel, Synesthesia and Color notes. Higher notes glow brighter with thinner ripples • Tempo from 60 to 144, with an optional bass accompaniment • Optional modes: spin the spiral with the tempo, turn it clockwise, or have notes rise from below • Note decorations: stars or pumpkins. With pumpkins, notes wear capes—and every E is played by the character from Tentenbou, a puzzle by the same developer • Wide-range songs fit on one tighter spiral; in Follow view the camera zooms to the range being played • Your view settings are saved for next time
SONGS • Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star • Hoshi no Yo (What a Friend We Have in Jesus, by C. C. Converse) • Silent Night (by F. X. Gruber) • In the Hall of the Mountain King (by E. Grieg, from Peer Gynt)
PLAY AND RECORD • Play the spiral keyboard with your fingers and record as you go—chords too • Shift the octave up or down—the spiral grows from the center or shrinks into it—to play four octaves, C2 to C6 • Count-in (none, 2 or 4 beats), metronome with volume, and snap to 8th or 16th notes • A gauge shows how long you are holding a key, so long notes are easy to time • Guided recording: glowing rings close in on the keys to play next and light up when it is time. Play along with the guide's accompaniment • Recordings are saved as notes, not audio, so you can change the tempo and colors later and replay them as towers of light (up to ten songs)
CREATE FROM TEXT • Enter a score written in ABC notation to import its melody as your own song • Supports key signatures, accidentals, dotted notes, triplets, ties, chords and repeats. Anything it can't read, or notes out of range, is reported with its line number
ALSO • English and Japanese • No microphone. No ads, no in-app purchases, no data collected
