GameSir G8 Controller Review – Major iPhone 15 and Xbox Cloud Gaming Compatibility Issues 🎮📱❌
I purchased a GameSir G8 series controller expecting a premium mobile gaming experience, but my experience on iPhone 15 has been extremely frustrating.
The controller works correctly on my Android device. All buttons map properly, navigation works as expected, and games recognize the controller immediately. However, on my iPhone 15, the experience is completely different.
The button mapping is incorrect. Even after resetting the controller to default settings and attempting to remap the buttons multiple times, the controller continues to assign the wrong functions to buttons. X, Y, A, and B inputs do not consistently respond as they should, making games difficult or impossible to play.
My biggest issue is Xbox Cloud Gaming. The controller is connected, but Xbox Cloud Gaming frequently fails to recognize it. The app repeatedly displays messages asking me to connect a controller even when the GameSir is already connected. Sometimes the Xbox Cloud Gaming app remains stuck loading, and other times the screen goes black or becomes unresponsive.
The GameSir app has also been disappointing. When attempting to access FAQs, customer support, or troubleshooting resources, I am often redirected to blank pages. This makes it very difficult to find solutions or contact support when problems occur.
For comparison, my Backbone controller works flawlessly on the same iPhone. It immediately recognizes Xbox Cloud Gaming, opens supported applications correctly, navigates menus without issues, and provides a seamless experience. The difference between the two controllers on iPhone is significant.
At this point, it feels like the iPhone experience was not tested thoroughly enough before release. Android compatibility appears solid, but iPhone users deserve the same level of functionality and support.
GameSir needs to improve:
* iPhone 15 compatibility.
* Xbox Cloud Gaming controller recognition.
* Button mapping reliability.
* Firmware stability.
* GameSir app support pages and customer service access.
* Overall iOS user experience.
I genuinely want to like this controller because the hardware feels good and performs well on Android. However, until these iPhone issues are addressed, I cannot recommend it to iPhone users who rely on Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Rating: 2/5 Stars.
Great hardware, but the iPhone software experience needs major improvement.

NEVER GET THIS APP
The damn controller doesn’t pair to the app or my phone and the updates feel so long like it’s taunting you in the face at this point trash the controller and delete the app. This is just a scam.
Didn’t connect
Spent over 100$ on the game sir g7 pro just to find out that the app doesn’t even support it. Because of that I couldn’t map any buttons to the paddles on the back. Overall just very frustrating and disappointing.
