About

Gas Tightness Test is a free, quick calculator for domestic gas engineers. It works out installation volume, the permissible pressure drop and the pass or fail result, based on IGEM/UP/1B Edition 4. There's also a timed gas rate calculator with gross and net kW. No account, no sign-in, no trial. Every calculation runs on your phone and works offline. TIGHTNESS TEST • Choose Natural gas (21 mbar), LPG (37 mbar) or LPG/air (21 mbar). The test pressure is filled in for you, and you can change it. • Add each pipe run by material, size and length. Copper runs from 15 to 35 mm and steel from ½″ to 1¼″. • Pick a meter (U6/G4, E6/smart, U16) or "No meter" when you're testing pipework only. • Installation volume is worked out for you: pipework, plus 10% for fittings, plus the meter. • The app shows the permissible drop for your gas type and installation volume, and handles new pipework as "no perceptible movement". • Clear pass or fail, with a bar comparing the allowed drop with the drop you recorded. • Purge volume (1.5 × IV) is shown for reference. • Litres or m³: switch whenever you like, and both appear on the result. • Installations above 0.035 m³ are flagged as outside IGEM/UP/1B scope. GAS RATE • Timed meter test with a countdown. • Works with metric and imperial meters. • Results in m³/h, plus gross and net kW. • Built-in torch for reading meters in dark cupboards. COPY TO YOUR RECORD Copy or share the full result: gas type, meter, pipe runs, IV, PV, test pressure, permissible drop, recorded drop and outcome. It's ready to go on a CP12 or gas safety record. HELP & REFERENCE Step-by-step guidance, reference tables for pipe and meter volumes and drop bands, an FAQ, and a contact form. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Nothing you enter leaves your phone. There's no account, and results are only kept for the current session unless you copy or share them. Gas Tightness Test is a guidance tool that supports a competent engineer's assessment. It doesn't replace IGEM/UP/1B or your professional judgement. Always check against the current published standard. The sponsored ads are only links, and the app collects nothing else, but check what your contact form sends. If it sends a name or email address, you'll need to declare that on the App Privacy form. Trademarks: I haven't used "Gas Safe" in the listing because it's a registered trademark. The description says "UK gas engineers" instead.
