I paid for a one year subscription in the app for the digital Gazette. After one week, the Gazette would no longer allow me to few stories saying they were for “subscribers only”. I tried to sign out and sign back out and still would not let me read articles.

Subscription fail
Update: Called support to either cancel or get account activated. They are blaming apple! This such a scam. Don’t be suckered into subscribing. Can’t link subscription! Can’t cancel subscription! No support!

The Gazette has had a rough and tumble decade but they always strive to provide the best they can with what they have. Can’t ask for more than that!!!

The only newspaper in town has finally figured out a paywall. Sure, not expensive…. For now. If the Gazette actually shared local news the price would be a deal. I have to use Charlotte papers to find breaking news in THIS town (Gastonia). I would happily pay if the content were worth it. Instead they spend most of their time on useless editorials couched in white privilege . Instead of spending my money to read old white men complaining about Biden and loss of American morals (they mean the Great Lie, and southern white supremacy such as the civil war left in its wake) Before I go too far, the paper isn’t biased. Just…. Not open and whole. They have done some good here. Just not enough. Maybe that’s the county trying to corral an opposition, maybe not. But having the app for 3 years and just now hitting the pay wall, when I checked daily…. Report more evenly I pay. Plain and simple

Not able to manage my account
It’s very disappointing to not be able to change payment methods, phone number or anything else online. If I can’t make important changes except by phone during regular daytime hours, what good is that in a world that is 24/7?

I love the old home town newspaper. Having an online subscription keeps me in touch, even though I live 3 hours away.

While the app organizes the news in a nice way, the lack of search functionality is sorely missing.
Not impressed
Flawed app with not much information in it at all. Recycles same stories from a boring part of the world, and THEN after reading several articles it asks you to lay to subscribe to read the lame stories. Gurl BYE

Every time I open this app, the home screen is blank. We I try to click on a specific section like Sports - nothing happens. Has this app been discontinued?

Come on guys. I wasn't thrilled when the NY Times started using subscription service for their app. This is the Gaston Gazette. Are you really going to charge your citizens to read news that is updated maybe a few times per week?? Ridiculous. Deleted!
