What's New in Gatefold.fm

1.26.2

September 18, 2026

CarPlay, mostly. The buttons on the Clerk's voice screen could take the app down. They don't now. If the Clerk went silent after a phone call, or connected cold and never spoke, that was an audio engine that couldn't restart. Fixed. Signed out in the car now says so on the first tap instead of failing quietly. Metric drivers stop hearing miles an hour. Driving Mode on the phone no longer yanks the set out of the car. Cards on the Clerk strip carry one name, not two. Each playlist mode builds its own set now. Deep Cuts goes for records you own and never play. Random Banger takes the fastest measured tempo on your shelf, no AI anywhere near it. 7 Degrees names the actual shared credit, and it's 7 Degrees of Connection now, because the link is a real person on both records. Also: shelf search reaches every record you own, and Settings has a What's New page. Known on iOS 27: the CarPlay play button can read Play while music is playing until you press it once. Apple's bug, not ours.

AI Clerk Makes Up Stories

The AI clerk is just a random generator. Then when it gives info, it just makes things up. For example, it told me Michael Schenker played on a Social Distortion record to give it a metal edge. Or how it said how a record that I made was recorded, and it was just a total fabrication.

Sorry, but this thing just isn’t all there.

It is a lot like many record store clerks though. It knows nothing but pretends it knows everything.

Response from developer

Thanks for giving the Clerk a real shot. That Schenker credit is flat wrong, and it invented the recording story on your own record too, my bad. I'm a music nerd and collector myself, and building an AI that actually knows what it's talking about is a fun, ongoing challenge. I keep adding grounding and fact-checking, tuning it as the models change. If you'd rather skip the AI, you can switch the notes to Apple Music or Last.fm in settings instead. Fair point about record store clerks. More cool stuff coming. Watch this space. :)

Great Collection Advisor app! Simply superb!

Great way to appreciate your collection even more than already. Like having a coach for what you should be into based on what you have! Love This!!!

:) Your review made me smile. I even found myself asking the Clerk if I should buy something in the store. He's a great enabler. :)

Just excellent

Similar to other reviews, I stumbled on this via Reddit. This app is great even if you don’t consider yourself a music nerd. But especially enjoyable if you do. It’s a really unique and interesting means of experiencing your record/Discogs collection if all you want is a tool that’s more intuitive and flexible than the Discogs app. But all of the added features enhance the experience. I never engage with AI chat unless I have to. Yet I’ve found myself unknowingly debating the merits of a few different bands with the ‘Clerk’ as well as some pointed (but not untrue) critiques of my record collection. Plus the daily recommendations are sending me into some dusty but worthwhile corners of my collection. This is clearly a labor of love for the developer as he seems to be adding new features frequently. And is incredibly responsive to feedback. You can feel the continued joy he’s channeling into this with each new update. Definitely worth checking out.

I really appreciate all the kind words and hope that it is a fun app for ALL lovers of music. I do put a lot of joy in here, and I am a huge collector and fan of music myself. I'm glad that it shows. I hope I've built you a feature or two already! Thank you again for such an amazing review.

The Best!!

I found this app on reddit and thought i’d give it try and so glad I did. This app is amazing, it gives you a record you should play for the day and why you should, and what to play after, gives recommendations to records from records you already own, shows upcoming releases, and can even add records to your want list or collection just by hearing it. Amazing app, it’s a little slow on the loading but that doesn’t stop it from being great. For a new app and app developer this is amazing, and an amazing idea that I wish I had lol. Will definitely be using this, great job!
