About
Gatepost Fence is an offline-first planner for homeowners, DIY landscapers, and small contractors who need build-ready fence geometry before buying lumber. Sketch a top-down plot, place posts and gates, then generate a materials cut list and live cost estimate—no account, no network, no spreadsheet wrangling.
Draw or open a fence project on an interactive canvas. Drag outline vertices, snap to right angles, and show running side lengths in ft/in or metric. Set a target on-center spacing to auto-place line and corner posts, then drag individual posts around obstacles with live gap readouts and total post count.
Add gates on any run: set clear opening width, hinge side, and swing direction (in/out, left/right). A swing arc overlay helps keep paths and plantings clear. Choose style presets—picket, horizontal rail, or privacy board—that drive board or picket width, rails per bay, and the waste factor used in the cut list.
Generate a realistic materials cut list broken into posts, rails, boards/pickets, hinges, latches, and concrete bags, with per-length cuts, bay counts, and a waste allowance you can tweak. Maintain an editable local price book (per post, per linear foot of rail or board, hinge pair, latch, bag of concrete) and see a live project cost roll-up with category subtotals.
Browse pre-seeded sample projects on first launch—a small backyard rectangle with one gate, an L-shaped side yard with two gates, and a front picket run—so every screen is populated immediately. Export a multi-section PDF with the plot diagram and dimensions, gate schedule, cut list, and cost summary, then share it via the system share sheet for the lumber yard or a contractor quote.
Turn a rough yard boundary into shareable, build-ready fence plans without a site visit.
