Absolutely the best app ever made if you’re a forager!

I normally don’t rate apps, but this one is an absolute gem! It’s so packed full of knowledge, and I love that it also has a notification option to let you know when local edibles might be coming into season in your area! — I cannot praise this app enough!

Love it, truly a wonderful app! A gift to foraging community and.. it lacks the community aspect

It would be great to add friends who I forage with, I can’t justify paying for this app without that add, especially with inaturalist and seek already doing a great job for identification..

Top notch

I have been getting more and more into this as I’ve gotten older as a kid. I mean, we ate a lot of wild stuff, but not foraging per se . I think you did an incredible job with this. I think it’s top-notch. Books. And with some of the more difficult species, I have struggled to ID. This takes a lot of the guest work, not all of it work out of what you were looking at ,I think it’s the most efficient thus far in my experience

Cash grab

This would have been a good app if anything were available without payment. The only thing you can do without paying is journal. Zero help. App makes you go thru all the prompts, captures your email to spam later, then finally tells you to pay to unlock every feature. Garbage.

Finally! Thorough, helpful + lookalikes!

I am so excited to start this spring foraging season with this app conveniently at my side. It is so thorough in its description including fruit, leaf & flower descriptions and season!! Specific to my local area wit reminders!! And so much more; I can’t believe it; a dream come true! And by a brilliant forager I’ve followed for years and trust completely. 🙏🏽 So grateful 🙏🏽

Foraging is Fun

Gather is basically like having a woodland friend in your pocket that helps you find cool stuff without accidentally eating something that sends you to meet your ancestors. Super easy to use, fun, and actually makes foraging feel way less intimidating. 10/10, would trust this app before trusting my own ‘pretty sure that’s a mushroom’ instincts. Thank you for designing this app!!!

This app claims to be free, and waits until you’ve signed up and handed over all of your personal info before telling you that you have to pay to actually use any of the advertised features.

If you have any issues with this, please contact us at support@gatherapp.co Next, we are not trying to claim we are free. Gather has both free and paid features, but we don't want to hide the fact that there are paid features. In all of our advertising, we mention the subscription, and in the description of the app, as well as the app screenshots, we mention this as well. We would love to hear from you about how we can make this clearer! We have no interest in leading anyone astray. THE APP EVERY FORAGER NEEDS

I love the Gather app! It’s a great tool for any forager who wants to get a grip on what’s growing in their region. The layout is easy to use and it has awesome info on things like season timing, lookalikes and more. It already has so many cool features and I’m excited to see what else Jesse and the team adds in the future.

Just what I was looking for!

I was just talking to my family this morning about “someday when I make my personal foraging map app…” what a nice surprise that Jesse did it for me!

But- to all the people on their iPhones (because these are Apple Store reviews) tanking the score of a passionate independent developer’s app: you should be ashamed.

People’s time isn’t free. Stop expecting to be given the product of their hard work for nothing. Support small developers making things you like and that you care about!

Subscription shock

I was expecting to maybe do a one time purchase but when I saw the monthly price I raised an eyebrow. Oh well.
And the kicker is that you cannot do anything without paying.
As of 12-1-25 going to delete app but if you change your mind to a one time purchase that’s realistic-feel free to reach out. I met the young man in battleground at an event where he had a booth and offered to take him

There is so much thought put into this app! I see bad reviews about subscription cost but not about content. It is well worth the money for someone who uses it regularly.

subscription based - no free plan

sad times, came really excited from instagram just to not even get past the subscription screen because there’s no free plan. hopefully this changes but if you’re a fellow new forager PictureThis is a good identification app for plants!

Gather is not intended to be used as a photo-identification app, but rather to give you the tools and knowledge to identify edible wild plants and mushrooms yourself. (This is the only safe approach when it comes to consuming wild goods) In addition to all the tools like predictive timings, foraging, and lookalikes guide, custom notifications, and more, other photo-ID apps are lacking. That being said, we have just added our personal foraging journal feature, which is completely free for all users! I invite you to update your app to the newest version, give it a try, and update your review.

Books are great! We have a lot of foraging books that we personally love and recommend. That being said, after we've spent and continue to spend thousands of hours and dollars making this the best foraging app possible, it's disappointing that you would give us a 1-star review simply because you prefer books over an app.
