Good but outdated
It has been very helpful for practicing conjugations,
The user interface is not immediately intuitive but you get used to it.
I’ve been studying in order of the third edition of the GENKI book, which up to around lesson 8, this app follows the same order of conjugation covered, but now some of the referenced conjugation rules in the app saying they’re mentioned in X chapter, when they’re actually Y chapter. So you have to double check where it’s really referenced. But otherwise still usable
It’s time for them to update the app to the third edition book 🙂

Horrible user interface
This is a charged app which I’m expecting something nice to use. Instead real UI looks horrible and laggy. I have no idea how I can use it. It’s like a beginner high school project instead of a published app. Please not waste your money. Plenty of other free app out there for you

This is basically a flash card app for conjugations with difficult repeatability.
I bought Genki 1 workbook and textbook and it’s been great for basics. The app, however, should be free for what it offers and feels like it was made 10+ years ago then forgot about. I already spent $ on both hard copies of the text, it should at least be free to download.
If you have the $6 to spare, it’s not unusable, but It won’t really teach you much. It’s a flash card app that coincides with the vocabulary in the book.
My recommendation: if you don’t have Anki or either the text or workbook, save the $6 for something else.

I had many `aha!` moments after hearing Japanese be spoken around my house for years.
I like it because you can find all the ways verbs and adjectives conjugate under `list`, so you can learn by quick example (I find the textbook is a little watered down, there`s too much explanation, so it gets boring and a little confusing as well). There’s also the `Rules` tab if you want to quickly jump ahead and get familiar with a conjugation you’re unfamiliar with. This app makes the textbook much easier to understand if you review these first, then study the textbook (before each chapter). I had many `aha!` moments using the app (my wife and children speak Japanese, so I hear it often at home, so while going through the details on the app, many of the words sounded familiar and I was like `Aha! So that’s what she was saying that one time` … A couple small complains. Under `menu`, once you’ve `checked` all the verbs and adjectives you’re familiar with, you can no longer review them under `MyDeck` or `Check` (unless you restore) … they should still allow you to go through and review, because sometimes, you forget words that you were once quick and confident with. My idea would allow you to quickly go through them without having to restore all of them. Another complaint. Only 56 verbs and 24 adjectives (but, after studying them all, it will make the thousands of other adjectives and verbs much easier to understand and breakdown, so it’s a good base, but it would be nice if they added more). One last small thing, it would be nice if they allowed this app to be able to split screen on new iPads, I don`t think they’ve updated this app in years … in todays world, with AI technology, it should be easy for them to make updates on the app. Those 3 things aside, its not bad all, its totally worth the $8, I disagree with the other negative reviews. Recommended if you bought the Genki textbooks and workbooks.

Too buggy for a paid app
My main issue is that the flash card checker/tests register all correct answers as incorrect, making that feature useless.
Besides that, anytime you navigate away from the app in the middle of studying a flash card deck, you have to start over from the very beginning when you go back.
As it currently stands, not worth the money I paid for it.

Seem like an old app. Useful with Genki textbook, because verbs are introduced in the same order. But it seems there is no way to work with multiple forms of one verb at a time — it’s only one tense at a time. I want to hear “taberu, tabimasu, tabete, tabemashita, tabeta” but this app doesn’t do that. Also, there’s no audio for the example sentences. I’m looking for a better conjugation drill app, this one isn’t working for me.

Missing verbs in Genki 3rd edition
At least couple verbs taught in the Genki 3rd edition are missing in this app, including はいる、のる。

Conjugation is a problem for beginners, so this app is helping me a lot to improve my Japanese.

Horrifically overpriced
I got this and another genki app and completely regret it. I just found the interface really stubborn to navigate. There used to be a really good flashcard app and i thought this would be like that. For what they give you this is hardly worth the cost, especially if you already have the textbooks. I thought this would just be an easier way to study the genki vocab but its not. Very much regret this purchase.
