Great, with a single criticism
I’d rather word my title this way and give five stars than a more enthusiastic title with four stars. That out of the way, Genki Studio is truly a great app.
Even so, it boggles my mind that it supports the smallest and latest iPad, but not the largest and latest iPhone. Place two of said iPhones side by side and you essentially have the same screen real estate as the iPad Mini. As trivial of a feature it may be to hope for iPhone support someday, I do think it would be at the very least useful for testing HDMI output on various devices. There are other UVC viewers that support iPhone, but nothing supports Genki Shadowcast as seamlessly as this App does.
I understand that generally speaking this app was made with heavy consideration for the Nintendo Switch (it all started with Genki Audio on Kickstarter… proud supporter!), but I will say for the sake of iPad Mini users out there:
Yes, the iPad mini’s screen is barely bigger than that of the Switch. But Genki was on to something with Apple displays. Relatively same size or not, Nintendo Switch looks crisper (in handheld mode, Switch only does 720p; 1080p is only via HDMI out) and the iPad mini’s speakers are louder. So it’s worthwhile to try for Switch, but I personally wanted to use this app for other game consoles without built in screens. This does great for those too. I’ve never had an HDMI device I’ve tested not work with the Shadowcast, which is their official hardware.
As a final note, I think it’s pretty cool that they allow for any UVC device, but I don’t think all UVC devices are created equal. I’ve used a 3rd party UVC device on PC with the Genki Arcade app, and it was nowhere near as clean. It did work, but there was a huge black border I don’t get with Shadowcast. I hope they continue to make the Shadowcast! The space saving design is so convenient.
Genki Studio is a must have for UVC. I really hope they decide to either add support for iPhone or introduce a separate app. I’d rather install something from Human Things than some random shady looking app.
If you have a Shadowcast, get it! You won’t be disappointed

Best experience I’ve had with my capture card
I know the latency has a lot to do with the capture card itself, but this app has been the best experience I’ve had with my own capture card. I have the hagibis pro 1080p 60fps that I got for my quest three to connect my laptop or my console, but the lag was just too bad. I then tried connecting my console to my laptop through OBS while I was traveling, and it was also super laggy(I don’t know if it was my settings). But when I try to hooking up my Xbox through this app it worked perfectly. The picture was clear there was little to no perceivable lag genuinely amazing, I could actually play my games as if they were on a regular monitor.

Almost perfect
App runs fine and the call issue is fixed, but the only issue I see now is sound isn’t workking when in call.
Can’t make calls when using this app
When making a call the app turns off and doesn’t detect video. Other apps like Orion work fine when in the background and making a call.
Simple, Straight forward
A good, light weight app that takes a USB video source and puts it on screen, with some basic controls and features like image rotation, pinch to zoom, Apple Pencil Markup (be your own sports commentator!), and just works.
Good app
Grate App works instantly, any way to get power at the same time wile using a steam deck?
I really appreciate what you’ve done!
I tried other UVC viewers before but this one is the best. An incredible work. This is an app that deserves praise!😃 I really wish if there was a voluntary donation feature in a form of in-app purchase in the app. Also, it would be so cool if I can use this amazing app on macOS!
Use to be ok
This app use to be ok. It always had black bars on top and bottom. The Stretch feature would just distort the image and cut the corners off. Now on top of black bars on top and bottom, they’re on the sides as well. Using even less of the screen making the image even smaller. The stretch feature is as useless as ever.

Black Screen
No image after iOS 18 update. Update: it works now. Thank you for your response.
Perfect HDMI capture 1080p/60hz
This is the simplest and most functional HDMI display and capture app I’ve tried out of 3 or 4. I input 1080p at 60fps from a mini HDMI cable into an HDMI to cheap usb-c capture device off Amazon. I use this to allow others to spectate my live fpv drone goggle view on an iPad.
HumanThings does it again
I used the Genki Arcade app on my computer to stream video from my ShadowCast capture card and hoped that there would be an equivalent for iPad. Let me just say, this is much better than all the other HDMI apps you will find on the AppStore. It works with ShadowCast,it works with any HDMI-USB-C adapter. This is a MUST for power users or anyone who uses HT products. Get this NOW.

Updated to Five stars because…
Updated…. I was able to follow the developer response to get what I want. I would still say that the colors are a bit off but, this is better and meeting my expectations. ************************************************************ Generally this application works will with the Shadow Cast. However…. Running this as an extra display or even a gaming monitor at a standard full HD resolution (or any standard resolution) on an iPad seems like a waste. I am not really asking for 4K (though this does that just at 30Hz and the screen looks terrible that way) but for a non-standard resolution that can fill the screen. The big letter box on the top and bottom don’t really seem needed. And, I would certainly think with a USB C 3.1/2 GEN 2 connection that you could push a 1 K level resolution that is taller…. Please…

High pitched sound
After starting the app there is a high pitched tone sound that sounds like screeching, it disappears when a uvc device is plugged in and more back when it’s plugged out.
Great App
I just got this app, and it is a game changer. It doesn’t actually use much power at all! I have full brightness, and from the hour I was playing, I only lost two percent—100 to 98! There are a few cons, however. The screen sometimes glitches out, and parts of the screen get unaligned. Also, the drawing feature is there, even when I’m playing, and I can’t figure out how to turn it off. All in all, this app is amazing. 10/10!

Simply Awesome!
I can play my Switch on my iPad now using the Genki Shadowcast. Not only that, but I can connect my PS Vita directly to the iPad via a USB-C cable to play. Incredible! Thank you so much for this!!
Very nice app!
Finally can use my iPad as camera monitor!!!!
So good!
Love this app, is there anyway to stream to YT or Twitch with this?
Great app but lag makes most video games unplayable
Title says it all
Game Changing App for iPadOS 17
This app is a literal game changer with the new HDMI Input feature of iPadOS 17. Using a simple USB-C HDMI Capture adapter, you can use any iPad with USB-C connector as a monitor. Second monitor for your PC, Nintendo Switch, XBOX, PlayStation, anything with a HDMI out. A big feature that sets this app apart from several others I have tried is that this app passes the audio signal to the iPad so that you can hear through the iPad speakers. Oh, and the app is free! Great job, GENKI!
