Great App. Missing “Portrait View”

This is a great app for Tac Teams, Competition Shooters or weekend plinkers. Easy to use - once initial info has been entered. One of the primary shortcomings is the lack of a “landscape” mode. Many LE/MIL users are accessing the app through a phone/tablet attached to their kit (juggernaut case). I would love to see them update the software to rotate the screen when the phone is oriented horizontally.

Best app in my opinion.

Used to use 4DOF, this app does everything that 4DOF does but better and more. In my opinion it is the cheapest and best option for anything other than a kestral. Bullet library is amazing, online weather is great. COMP mode is amazing for the Precision Gas Gun matches I shoot. After truing MV the dope has been spot on. I had the app for a week and bought the PRO version and never looked back. Can't recommend enough.

Love what they’ve done with the app

This has become my go-to ballistic calculator! It’s very friendly for those who tinker with different rifles, optics, and different loads. I love that I can have several different loads saved for each rifle and easily switch between them. So far I’ve tested the solver out 600yds, and it has gotten me on target. The optic reticle overlay is superb, I just wish there was a function to show all the reference points. Such as it only shows in 1mil increments, when the reticle goes in 0.5mil increments. I also love that you can pull environmentals in from AWOS towers. Learned the importance of compensating for density altitude.

Could be better

With the great interface, GeoBallistics could be better. The main problem I have with this app, it has issues with the iPhone Compass i.e. GeoBallistics doesn't match up consistently with the internal compass. Directions can be way off in comparison. I would like to see a view compass heading option in the app instead just in degrees also. With that said, how about some more "critter" target options, like woodchuck/marmots?

Updated app. Lost everything!

Updated the app twice in 3 days. Obviously there is an issue. All my data is gone from the app. It will not bring it over from the website. And the website has only my older entries. I’m not a competitor but enjoy shooting fairly long range. This app was pretty good before these updates. Back to square one

Email asked me to update review. Still same rating. This app, on my phone, has gone from pretty good to horrible!!! Just tested its wind hold. Uh, what wind hold. Looking for another app as of now!

Velocities and holdovers

Velocities and holdovers have gotten ridiculously off and I am unable to edit or change them. Has worked fine until this most recent update. I’m not sure what medium they are expecting these bullets to be fired through but it must be similar to water given the velocity drop. There’s not a way to contact customer support that I’ve found. Regretting having paid for this app. It used to be good

Latest Update 👎🏽

Not sure what happened to all the velocities, but the app is not working properly. At 100 yard zero and shooting 300 yards, the app shows and elevation of 346 MOA and 145 MOA windage. Please look into this if you haven’t already. Looked at rifle setting velocity and it shows correctly in its setting. But when using the standard chart, velocity is not matching.

Supporting products

This review is about GeoBallistics and the supporting range finders and the ACE weather meter. I purchased a Razor 4000 range finder with GB a couple years ago and originally liked the GB app, but since the new products have come out the range finder is now outdated. It can either connect to GB on its own or the Ace can connect but not both products. I understand the range finder does not have the Relay network included. I’m not a competition shooter so I’m not going to invest in more range finders when the one I have works fine. When I first got the Ace the products would communicate through the GB app but they must have patched this so I can either use the range finder or the ACE with GB

Clunky, Inaccurate

To many back and forth screens! Windage is hard to set and windage solutions are incorrect. Elevation solutions compared to other apps are also slightly off. Won’t buy the Razor scope I was interested in as I wanted the app for the hold overs and the windage is way off.

Love it

It works. Plain and simple. The amazing thing is how well it works with the relay network. Also love reading the bad reviews to remind myself why I steer clear of public ranges. The LR community is a special one I tell ya.

Expected more from Vortex honestly

A ballistic chart that has inches would be nice for the average person who doesn’t mess around with moa or mrad

Not quite perfect

To be perfect, please add other manufacturers reticles.
I do have many vortex but i also have others before vortex became a choice.

Trash

Wont show an image of the reticles BDC and the drop for lower velocity round.

Keeps Getting Better!

Been using GB for around 2 years. Downloaded it after getting the Razor 4000 GB rangefinder. Prior to GB I was familiar with several other ballistic calculators and found them to be somewhat comparable with each of them having certain things I liked and didn’t like. GB felt a little clunky at first but Vortex has continued to improve and support making it now what I really believe to be the best one out there.

With the release of the new Talon 10K and ACE it takes everything to the next level where all devices work seamlessly together. It also shows Vortex commitment to continue to develop and improve it.

Be sure to create an account so it syncs your data in the cloud. Didn’t do that and when I switched phones I lost all my custom dope data.

Terrible

They don’t even have my scope on here or ammo. Way better apps out there that you don’t have to pay $15 for. Don’t recommend.

MPBR

Why do you not include a maximum point blank range as an option for the bullet trajectory? Us hunters would appreciate that! Good app nonetheless.

Crashes and lacks Vortex reticles

My original review was 3 stars but now it’s time to update it. The stock reticles are horrible and it lacks support for my vortex 3-18x50 scope. It’s also crashing any time I try to change rifles.

Really

I like it! User friendly but could be improved ! it even has air gun rifles for fx impact and is accurate great!

Data is okay

The depth of the actual shooting is fine, but this really needs more Strelok like options like scope reticles from more than Vortex. I get they bought it but integration with the rangefinders is one thing but not everyone only has vortex scopes.

A little disappointed.

Seems to be lacking in a lot of ways. Got spoiled by the app that was lost after the sanctions. Other alternatives are good, but one would think Vortex/Geoballistics would have more adequately filled the void. The point of impact with the Geoballistic app is off relative to other “proven” apps I’ve used at distances 1800yds+. Also, finally releasing reticles was a relief, but then I was quickly disappointed to find out they only have Vortex reticles, and it doesn’t show the target along the horizontal axis of the reticle; most people are dialing vertical dope into their scope and using the horizontal reticle for wind, spin drift, etc. Also, when entering multiple BC’s (at various velocities as the bullet slows down in flight) for a more accurate trajectory, it does not save them. When I close/ re-open the app there is only one BC entered — even though I had recently saved multiple BC’s for that profile. These are my biggest complaints at the moment. Will continue to use it as an adjunct to other apps given Geoballistics is integrated into my rangefinder.
