Ruined it with the update
Ruined the game by changing the levels to a daily challenge. Used to play every day but now I don’t because they ruined it. Also, lost all my progress, was on level 600 but when they updated it, it all reset.
Fun game
For a while there, the game would not load the map they’re playing on the daily quest, it will just go to a black screen, but it appears they have fixed that bug. I do enjoy playing this.

paywall, subscription service, email account required
All of this for a game i remember from a decade ago. because of course a well over a decade old game that used to be free in the browser needs your email now and 3.99/month. this is just what things are now.
They nerfed it
They got rid of the unlimited plays on classic mode with levels. Thats the only reason I played. I’m not paying to play more than one game a day when I could drop a random pin on google maps and get the same joy out of it. Uninstalled

**UPDATE: After 30 pages of “support” I found the black screen help & NONE of their instructions even exist in “settings” where they said to fix it!!!!**
70% of the time I try to play the free daily game it’s only a black screen!
IF this game worked MOST of the time I’d consider subscribing. NOPE!

Shady developer
Trying to make me think the only way I can login is through Google or Facebook is diabolical. Unless you hit the X to see the login via email. Also requiring a code to create an account is crazy spammy stuff too. You just know you’re gonna be on some leaked list eventually with these guys. Deleted the app right after that.

Used to play this game all the time now but now that you see streamers play it they think it’s acceptable to put practically whole game behind a paywall
Paywall ruined everything
Used to be a fun game that allowed you to learn about new places. Now all of the regular game is locked behind a paid subscription. Ridiculous. It's also very difficult and confusing to navigate the app now. The very little that is free is timed (5 rounds, 2 minutes each), as in you have to guess the location in that time, not just have the map freeze after it like it used to be. So there is more time pressure, which is not fun. Bummer. I really liked this app in its original version, but I will likely be deleting it due to the bs paywall that makes it unusable.

I used to play this game and it was so Meta as they say, and it felt like getting dropped from Google Earth, and the options were very simple and there wasn’t much to it, which was part of why I love this game and now it is pop-up trash history trivia about flags and BS. Why did you destroy the one thing that was amazing and wonderful? Pls fix.

Loved when it was free
I’ve been playing Geoguessr for years now and recently the app has removed the levels section, and now I can only play the daily challenge. I don’t know if this is a matter of app glitch (hopefully) or greed and charging unnecessary money (likely but unfortunately) but either way it sucks that you’re only limited to a couple of rounds a day now. I was at level like 80+ :(
