About

Every German learner stays bad at the same two things: noun gender and the case system. You have said "Guten Morgen" a hundred times, and "Gute Nacht" a hundred times, and nobody has ever told you why one ends in -en and the other in -e. That is the gap this app was built for. The big language apps teach you to order a coffee and leave you guessing at der, die and das forever. German Growth does the hard part, and explains it. DER, DIE, DAS — THE PART NOBODY DRILLS A spaced-repetition trainer over 4473 nouns, colour-coded by gender, that remembers exactly which words you get wrong and brings them back until you don't. Not a quiz you pass once — a system that keeps working on the words you personally keep missing. ALL FOUR CASES, WITH THE REASON Nominativ, Akkusativ, Dativ and Genitiv, drilled in real sentences. Every answer explains WHY that article — subject, direct object, indirect object, possession — which is the part textbooks leave you to infer on your own. 503 PHRASES, AND WHY EACH WORD IS THAT WORD Sentences you would actually say, from "Guten Morgen" to "Das lässt sich nicht so einfach beantworten" — each with one word taken out to test you, and a line explaining the grammar underneath. Why does Guten Morgen end in -en and Gute Nacht in -e? Why is it auf den Tisch when you put something down and auf dem Tisch when it is already there? Most learners are never told. Here it is written under every phrase. A COMPLETE COURSE, A1 TO BEYOND C2 108 lessons up the CEFR ladder, each built from teaching cards, listening, word order, typing, matching and fill-in-the-blank. Alongside it, a rules library written the way a German schoolbook teaches: Grammatik, Rechtschreibung, reading, writing and speaking. VOCABULARY YOU CAN TRUST 4473 nouns, each with its article. A large part of them were read out of a printed German picture dictionary, page by page, so the gender you learn is the gender a published German reference prints — not one a machine guessed. A GARDEN THAT GROWS AS YOU LEARN Finish a lesson and something appears in a valley you can pinch open and explore: trees, a windmill, a stone bridge, a heron at the pond. Tap anything out there and it tells you which lesson or which word grew it. Keep your streak and it stays in bloom; let it lapse and it starts to wilt. ALSO INSIDE • A picture dictionary you can browse by topic • A herbarium that presses every noun you master • Word of the Hour, on a home-screen widget • Pronunciation practice that scores you on your own device • Mistake review that collects everything you got wrong • Light and dark, five colour palettes, full Dynamic Type support • Built for iPhone and iPad, including Split View and rotation PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No analytics. No advertising. No tracking of any kind. Your progress is written to your own device and stays there — we could not read it if we wanted to. Free, with the whole course open.

What's New in German Growth

500+ PHRASES — sentences you'd actually say, each with one word taken out to test you and a line underneath explaining why that word is the word. Why Guten Morgen ends in -en and Gute Nacht in -e. Why it is auf den Tisch going down and auf dem Tisch sitting there. They are in the Feed, in every level of the course, and in a Phrasen section of their own. NEW TO GERMAN? START HERE — a map that explains what German actually asks of you, what to do first, and how to tell it is working. BUILT FOR IPAD as well as iPhone, with Split View and rotation. The Feed now carries you on to the next card when you get one right, and stops when you don't. The garden is far lighter on older iPhones. Text and colour were audited against Apple's accessibility guidance, so every palette is readable and Reduce Motion is respected throughout.
