This app is amazing! I’m so grateful someone cares enough to create it to help us protect our kids. It was shocking the images young children could access through gifs once Apple took away the option to delete them. If I could give this creator more than 5 stars I would. I highly recommend!

This is a great app for protecting children’s phones from the loopholes apple has continued to neglect in their parental controls. I recommend the desktop app as well! Beyond functionality it is exceptionally well made for ease of use.

Thank you for making an app that makes sense and meeting a need that no one else has met yet. Gertrude addresses the most aggravating issues I had with ScreenTime, like how to give my kids access to Messages without also handing them open access to #images, a database of gifs for an adult audience. It has allowed me to give my kids the benefits of the iPad with much greater peace of mind. I am so thankful for this and hope you are able to keep updating Gertrude as ongoing software updates roll out potential new issues that Gertrude can address.

Excellent tool
Using this for my kids’ iPhones with Apple Configurator and screen time controls has made the phones far safer as the kids learn to use them responsibly. Many thanks to the developer for a great and needed tool!

Finally! Get it for your kids!
It works and is easy to set up. Wish Apple restrictions didn’t limit it to certain devices on family plan, but that’s Apple’s fault and not Gertrude’s. Get this app and use it - Apple should have built all of these capabilities into ScreenTime, tbh, but they didn’t so kudos to Gertrude for making this and for making it free. Highly recommend!

Update: thank you!you were correct. My WhatsApp was not blocked because of Gertrude, rather because I signed into an iCloud child’s account that age was younger than 13 years old.

Scam
After I download this app. All my info on my child’s phone was compromised. Even my “secured screen time password was changed”. Please don’t download. It’s not safe!

This comment is completely false. This did not happen. What they describe is literally impossible on iOS. No app is able to compromise all the info on the phone, Apple does not permit any app to read or touch the data from any other app. And it's literally impossible for an app to change the screen time passcode, or do any of what this person describes. Furthermore, the entire codebase of Gertrude Blocker is open source on GitHub, anyone can read the source code and see that there is nothing malicious in it whatsoever. I'm a programmer and a dad who built this app for my kids. Don't believe this comment.
Every parent needs this
This app is meeting a great need since Apple has not allowed parents to properly protect their children. Thank you Gertrude Blocker. With the latest iOS updates, parents can no longer disable the gif images in texting. This app allows parents to decide if their child is not ready for that feature yet, and disable new images from loading. I wish past images could be unloaded easily with the app as well, but I greatly appreciate the protection from seeing future images. Thank you.

Gertrude is not able to completely eliminate apps. This user reached out to us through our contact form, and after a little back and forth, she realized that the disappearance of the WhatsApp app was caused by an age setting in Screen Time, not by Gertrude.
Only app that combats apples loopholes
This is the only app I’ve been able to find that successfully blocks #images GIFs on the messaging app, notability, group me, ect! It’s amazing I can’t rave more. I can give my kids more access to things knowing there’s no backdoors to harmful content!
