Potential
This app is so relaxing so far and very intuitive. The algorithm picked up very quickly what I’m interested in, while showing me new options of interest as well. I’m not a creator, but there’s a solid amount of people already. I like it :)

The app use the $20 incentive to get people on the app and then never followed through. I jumped through all of the hoops and did all of things only to get an error and no response from the support team. The app is no different than any others. It’s a knock off of TikTok‘s lemon8.

This is a fun relaxing app! I am loving the vibe over here, and plan to stay! It’s like Pinterest and TikTok but I haven’t seen any ads which is so nice . Feels like the start of a little community 😊
Finally, a Platform Where Good Content Has a Real Chance to Grow
I joined Gist around the time it first launched, and one of the things that has impressed me most is how responsive the team seems to be to creator feedback. Early on, I submitted several suggestions for features I thought would make the platform better for creators, and within about a month I’ve watched some of those very things actually become part of the app. That alone has made Gist feel different from platforms where feedback seems to disappear into a void.
But the biggest difference for me has been what Gist has done for my content and my business. It has given purpose back to creating again. I’m no longer feeling like I have to post something just for the sake of staying visible or feeding an algorithm. I can create thoughtful, useful content with substance and actually feel like there’s a place for it.
My older posts continue to be discovered and engaged with instead of disappearing after a day, which makes the time I put into creating feel worthwhile. I’m seeing real organic growth, meaningful engagement, and people actually saving, commenting on, and coming back to content that was created to help them.
For the first time in a while, social media feels less like constantly trying to keep up and more like building a body of work that has value. Gist is still growing, but seeing how quickly the platform has evolved and how much attention seems to be going into the creator experience has made me genuinely excited to keep building here.

Ugh
Just downloaded and disappointed to see it’s not full-screen. Even when I select an item, it only fills up about half the screen. Maybe it’s because I’m using an iPad?
AI- and the crowd goes boo👎
Maybe I’m not understanding it well but I was drawn in by the AD of “no more brain rot AI” and wanted to try this app only to find out IT’S POWERED BY AI. What’s the point, what a shame. I understand the concept of flipping the post and understanding what it’s all about but where’s the beauty of creativity and uniqueness if it’s all just one big spoiler. I don’t write reviews but I had to after this disappointment.

I’ve been looking for a better Pinterest alternative. No videos, no adds or ai slop everywhere. Thought this might be it but no.
Everyone is posting so many videos on this app, is just turns into another ig reel or tiktok.

Thoughtful is not AI
I downloaded this app because it was advertised as a more thoughtful app that encouraged slow investigation, and was the anti-doom scroll. And yet, within seconds of downloading and creating an account, it’s saying “hey look! An AI summary!” WHY IS IT BEING MARKETED AS AN APP TO ENJOY LONGER FORM CONTENT CREATION AND PUSHING AI SUMMARIES?!?! This is the worst timeline.

Good new social app that has more potential than the old apps
I like this app for its ease of use, ability to make more than just quick shorts and photos that won’t reach any algorithm, and that it has space to actually make longer worded content that has a chance to be seen by others, I wish it had more editing options for photos and text but besides this, so far I am very happy with the app!

I recently joined the gist community and I really understand and love the platform and I got to go to their first creator event ever in Orlando Florida. 🍊 10/10 would recommend this platform

Not sure how this has such high ratings considering I’m exclusively seeing posts from 2 months ago, 3 weeks ago, etc. nothing new or current is shown to me. I appreciate the lack of advertising but tbh the quality of posts is also disappointing. People are using it as their journal or as their TikTok
