AI Trash Slop Content War
Half the app was here under the promise of real genuine human connection and the other half was there to promote and defend “their” useless AI slop content. Trash app! I’ve never even left an app review before!! I’m just so outraged at the facade that was created in the app’s ad. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER!!!!

I absolutely love this app even if it’s new it’s showing what it can be and whatever it will do we just don’t get lost we can truly show our creative knowledge, interest, political insight on any level and show it with meaning!
Learning Curve still testing
Takes a learning curve to get your interest. Seems like a lot of stuff thrown at you at first. Would be useful if you could tailor your interest to your location. Make it more relevant. For example someone who lives in canada vs US or EU etc.
Decent Design Poor Audience
App works decently but the leadership needs to take a stance with the AI. Every post on my feed is “I hate AI, why can’t I hide it”/“Why does everyone hate AI”. Like the whole feed, every day!! And I extremely hate AI and if this app won’t take a stance to limit and hide those people who use ai (many of who brag about getting gift cards while posting ai garbage) - it’s not worth using.

I’m loving Gist. It feels like a slow float down the River as you authentically share the things that matter to you most! Simple or not so simple the community here really engages.

Gist contacted me through Upfluence with a “curated,” “targeted” $1,500 invitation and explicitly said it was “not mass outreach.” That language made it sound like I had been selected. I joined the platform, provided my information, and signed their content authorization—then Gist ignored two follow-ups and rejected me without payment.
Although their FAQ says final approval is required, the outreach used a specific paid offer to persuade creators to join before making that distinction meaningful. In my opinion, advertising a targeted $1,500 opportunity, collecting the creator’s authorization, and only afterward saying it was merely an application is bait-and-switch marketing.
Gist eventually confirmed that my authorization was not processed and my content was not used, but only after I repeatedly pushed for answers. The experience felt misleading, disorganized, and deeply disrespectful of creators. I would never have joined otherwise, and I cannot recommend Gist.

Easy to use. I like the fact that it’s AI free. It’s great to see some real content.
Social Media With a Purpose
I’m genuinely loving Gist. What stands out to me is that the goal isn’t just to get people to post more content—it’s to encourage content that is useful, educational and actually creates conversation.
I love discovering people who have something to teach, share or recommend, and I appreciate that Gist seems to be building a community around that kind of content. It feels less like shouting into the social media void and more like exchanging ideas with people.
I’m still new to the platform, but so far I’m excited to see where Gist goes and to be part of a community that values content with something to say.

App to train AI
It’s clear after installing, this is just an app to farm data to train their AI. Immediately uninstalled.

If you rated this app anything less than a perfect 10, you probably aren't using it right. This app has been such a great resource and blessing and I've only had it since yesterday...it's 5am and I been on Gist all night nn I feel wiser instead of feeling like I wasted all day doomscrolling and killing braincells. haha. Thank you, Gist! Thank you.

3.5 - lots of potential
Clean looking app that runs smooth. Love the name and the intention. Do not love the Pinterest board feed. Do not like that you can’t out music on posts. Definitely is lacking rich content but I remember the early days of tumblr. Hopeful for what is to come!
This is the social media app I’ve been waiting for.
Chill vibe, in-depth posts, different media forms (video, photo, writing) without preference or punishment of any of the three. The best platform for chasing curiosity instead of clout.
Such a refreshing app
I actually really love this app so far! And everything that it does and can do. My only critiques are things it can’t do:
• no native video editing. that means using other social media (☹️) to edit or a video editing app and bringing over your content. And you can’t post more than one video in a post.
• no photo editing. similar to the above but with both photos and videos, there are no filters or adjustments besides TEXT and STICKER (and on videos, that’s just for the cover).
• I’m not sure it can tell what media I’ve seen already. I’m seeing posts I’ve already seen and even clicked on in my feed again.
• You can’t post photos AND videos in one post

The New IG
Gist is so calming to use. I can have a doom scroll moment while being aware that’s it’s happening. There are no annoying ads when I watch videos, and the layout is excellent.

This app is great and with more progress, I can see it taking off, as long as the tasks don’t get “greedy” like most apps, so far, they don’t seem greedy at all! I’ve already gotten $5 after having a referral link and completed a 3 day task and have $20 more coming in my email!!! So that’ll be $25 in amazon gift cards in 3 days!! Good little side gig to use, especially when budgeting, to still be able to shop without spending your hard earned money that may go to more important things. (and might I say, the tasks are SOOO easy and simple.)
