Didn’t know I needed it

I seriously love this app so much. It is less overstimulating than some of the other apps that lead you down the doom scrolling hole. This just feels a little bit more thought out and feels calmer over here.

Hopeful after being hopeless

Honestly, I did not think that online social interactions will again be normal! I’m pleasantly surprised by how this social media works. Everything looks familiar but there is a huge difference: the algorithm, the vibe, the style, the ability to be seen and heard - connected with people who need to interact with you.

Super fun app and great community!

I've been loving Gist! Creating content here feels super smooth and engaging, whether you're sharing photos, videos, or starting cozy discussions. The interface is clean, easy to navigate, and tracking your progress on creator challenges/spark goals is so rewarding. Highly recommend joining if you love sharing your interests!

Real Creators, Real Content, Zero Drama

It feels like a refreshing escape from social media drama.

I truly love this app! Unlike other social platforms that constantly push drama and clickbait to your feed, Gist keeps things refreshing, grounded, and peaceful. I really appreciate how down-to-earth the topics are and the genuine content creators share here. It’s a wonderful escape from the noise—highly recommend!

A move towards positive social media

What I really like about gist is that I’m not getting bombarded with ads right now trying to sell me things so much though that I can’t even find true post from creators anymore. It’s been soo refreshing!

Lovely New Platform

I’m enjoying this new social media platform. It is easy to use and people see my posts faster than other places. Going to keep sharing my travel here. Now,
I need to learn how to add sound to my carousels on this platform.

A Social Media Refresh

Most social media apps are copy and paste versions of each other. Gist is a refreshing take on creating content with genuine intention to share interests, places and hobbies with others. A writer? Cool, there’s an article format. Puzzle maker? There’s a game format too. It doesn’t feel like too much, feels just right.

Keeps shutting down

The app seems really cute, and innovative. However I was only able to make one post. Every time I’ve tried to upload any content from my gallery, the app force shut downs. Ultimately souring the user experience for me. I’ve tried to restart my phone, even deleting and downloading the app again. Nothing seems to work :/, I’m thoroughly disappointed.

Response from developer

Really sorry for the rough start. Definitely not the experience we want you to have. We’ve identified the problem and have implemented a fix, which will be included in our next app update. If you're still facing the same issue with the next update, please don't hesitate to reach out at info@gist.com or submit a product feedback in-app and we'll get right to it.

I like it!

So far this is a really great app. Being able to have more control over what I view is definitely a nice change of pace. Very excited to continue to explore the app and be a part of “building “ it

Refreshing

Gist is social media for those of us who like to slow down and really take a look around at the world. It's easy to use and easy to navigate.

If I could give all the stars in the sky I would

I've downloaded a lot of apps looking for a place to just be honest, and most of them teach you to perform instead. Gist is the first one that didn't ask me to perform.

I came in posting a little of everything — no strategy, no polish, just what was actually true that day. And instead of getting swallowed by an algorithm that rewards the loudest version of you, I got met by real people. People who read the whole thing. People who commented like they meant it. People who saw the parts of me I used to think were "too much" and told me those were the parts they related to most.

That's rare. That's not a feature you can market — it's something in the foundation. Something about how this app is built makes room for connection instead of just engagement, for the true thing instead of the polished thing. It doesn't ask you to shrink to fit in. It makes space for the version of you that usually gets edited out everywhere else.

For a brain that's spent years chasing quick, empty sparks — the kind that fizzle out the second you close the app — this is the first spark that's actually stayed lit. Not because of one good post. Because the app itself seems designed for people to find each other honestly, and that's a foundation worth building a home on.

Gist didn't just give me a place to post. It gave me a place to be seen. Five stars isn't even enough.

Doing what other apps can’t

I’ve been using this for about a week and have truly enjoyed my experience. My feeds are ultra curated to me and as I interact with things it refreshes and just fits what I’m looking for! Excited to see what comes next and how this community evolves.

What social media needs

I am so happy to see something like this. Everything in the app is well-thought out and based on connections and information, not just another reel and attention-span-sucker. It’s main feed is much like Pinterest, with you being able to click in to things you are interested in seeing/reading. The app is still getting the kinks worked out here and there since it is new, but nothing has gotten in my way really. I have great hope for its future!

Still New Here, But…

So far, I’m enjoying the novelty of it all. And it truly feels like a much more ‘intentional’ platform design than Instagram or Facebook. It seems as though the creators wanted to offer a social media space that doesn’t entirely lack depth, meaning, or purpose to what it holds within. :)

I like this app

I have been enjoying this app. For some reason it feels like there’s less pressure to post picture perfect things and I like the article option. So far this app just feels more genuine than other social media apps.

Get the Gist!!

I recently found this platform and I have really been impressed. Unlike other social media sites I have used, I do not feel bombarded by ads or AI content.

The whole point of Gist is to share information that other people will find helpful. The app is very easy to navigate and is full of information I can actually use.

All kinds of creators are welcome! I’ve seen lifestyle stuff, travel stuff, artsy stuff, and wellness stuff to name a few. My niche is family law and that has been well received.

One thing I really like is the option to make posts in several types of formats. From picture carousels to blog posts to discussion points you can really find a way to express yourself that feels comfortable for you.

Different and better!

I love that this app is actually about taking action, creating positive change and not just mindlessly scrolling!! I found a lot of fresh interesting content that was very relatable!

Instagrammy

Was a little buggy at first but it seems to have been fixed. I wish there were more “categories of interest available when you start the app. I am interested in art/creators. The closest category seems to Culture. I was hoping to see more artists, but I guess that will happen with time. Most of the people I have seen on the app post food pics and write about restaurants.

Response from developer

Thanks for this really useful feedback. We hear you on wanting more granular categories; art/creators is on our radar as we grow past the initial set. This currently sits under Culture for now, but the more you engage with what you're into, the more the algorithm leans that way. Appreciate you sticking with us through the early phase!

Love Gist

“Been loving gist, seems refreshing & organized well! It’s cool being able to have discussions & also watch short videos! Might be a new fav for me”

Intentional & well organized

Been using gist for a few weeks now and I’m finding myself over here much more than IG / TikTok. I love that it’s about specific things. I’m interested in versus just trying to find creators that I like. Idk, seems different and I’m excited to see how it grows!

Response from developer

Love hearing this! Intentional is exactly the vibe we're going for. We'd love to have you be even more involved! If you're interested in joining our beta testing program, feel free to DM us in-app at @gist_news 🙌
