About
Sorry, dear Austrian, but the official language in Austria is called German, there is no chance to deny this simple fact. The Austrian Dictionary is intended to explain Austrian dialect vocabulary for anyone who is learning German for traveling or staying in Austria. Austrians (and/or Viennese) can do without it, unless they want to practise the real language and not remain mentally restricted to their local dialect.
All terms in this dictionary are explained in high (real) German, which is the official language in Austria (maybe hard to grasp for an Austrian), an English translation is given also.
Included in the term list are "culinary terms", i.e. the local names of many dishes typical for Austria and Vienna (yes, Vienna is mostly named separately from Austria, especially by the Viennese).
The app app features a modern user interface with a convenient search facility (including a full-text search).
