Really adds to the experience, even if you’ve been there before
I found Gypsy Guides on my fifth or sixth trip to Glacier and even having been there several times it was a great addition.
Loved having David along. So glad to see there are Gypsy Guides for upcoming trips and wish I had known about them on prior trips.
Pro tip: Make sure the app is downloaded while you’re on good WiFi. Make sure it plays when your phone is in airplane mode before you get off the good internet service.
Dave gives you lots of heads up for turns or sites you might want to see. Really great enhancement.

My personal tour guide
This app is awesome! It detects where you are and narrates great facts as well as suggestions for stops. Loved it. Also bought the Yellowstone and Teton apps.

Wow! What a Great Trip Using This App
I’ve downloaded a variety national park touring apps over the years and have even paid a high price. This app is the best. We were referring to the guide like someone we knew before the trip was over. Works in background as you drive.

Best audio app out there. Just took a ride in The Road to the Sun in West Glacier National Park. Used it in Hawaii on The Road to Hana. Excellent
Don’t leave home without it!
My travel companion had used this in Utah and told me it was a must. She was right! It was almost like the narrator knew our questions ahead of time. Won’t travel a national park without it!
If you want to hear about the road...
There is so much natural beauty and interesting geology that makes up Glacier National Park, it is very sad that this audio tour spends so much time on the construction of the road and so little on explaining the geology, flora and fauna and history of the park. Disappointing.
Don’t take the trip without Gypsy Guide
We stumbled across the app and tried it out. Loved it. Gave lots of insight on the trip and it was convenient to use in the car. The stories varied a little bit as we reversed our direction back down the mountain. We will try this for other parts of our trip.

I highly recommend this series of APPs of you are planning on visiting these parks! This was a marriage saver!! If you ever struggle on what and when to see sites, while planning multiple National Park visits during peak seasons, then this is the APP for you! It takes planning to the next level! I purchased The Yellowstone/Teton and after purchased Glacier as a separate APP. It will sync to your radio so that all can hear and includes a map. The narrator was amazing, he did not talk too much and the signal was NEVER lost even though our navigation and phone signals were weak. He provided interesting commentary on the National Parks, land marks and geography. You will not be disappointed and will not need to hire a tour guide!

Topics chosen (I’d prefer more talks about nature, the discussion was mostly about building the road, number of cars which came the first year, after the narrator said he wasn’t going into the details of the lake length, depth, etc. If you’re going to say you don’t like numbers, then don’t tell me about numbers: how much the workers were paid, # of years it took to build the road, how many cars visited the first year)
Hokey tone the narrator took at times, self-deprecating has a time and place, but not on my audio tour. Just the facts ma’am.
No info given on parking tips/tricks when that’s the worst part of the park, the Logan’s Pass parking lot was full so we missed it completely.
Fact that he also narrates other tours. If this is the tone for all of the tours can I switch the voice like on my Garmin? 😂 English lady or Australian guy please.

Download Before Your Trip!
This is the second Gypsy tour I downloaded. The first one was a Yellowstone tour which I paid for, but couldn’t download because of very poor internet service at the Yellowstone Canyon lodge by Xanterra. The files tend to be large, ie over 150 mb, so it is essential that you download these apps where you have fast internet service without file size restrictions. The app doesn’t work until you are near the park by GPS. Each section or story is activated by GPS. I downloaded the Glacier National/ Going to the sun road app at home. I couldn’t test it until I got to the park. I found the app a useful but limited guide as it only included going to the sun road, and didn’t include other sections, like Many Glacier Road. I still found it helpful.

An absolute essential for self drivers thru the park
We downloaded this guide and it actually felt like we had someone in our car with us. We listened to it going west to east and east to west on the Going-to-the-Sun road and never got tired of it. We will be looking for additional guides for future locations and will absolutely purchase more of these!

Great value for money!
We honestly enjoyed this narration far more than the tour we took of the going to the sun road and this was a fraction of the cost! Good mix of information shared, perfect timing based on gps locations as well. Would absolutely recommend downloading it before arriving at glacier due to poor cell service there. Also remember to have a charger in the car with you!

So fabulous and easy to use!
Takes you through every important stop and turn along the Going to the Sun road. Allows you to make the most of the trip with no effort. Definitely worth it!
Great Company
We first used the Hawaii version of the app and found it added so much to driving around the islands. Then Yellowstone did not disappoint. The commentary and recommended stops are perfect for your road trip. Of course you could do without this app, but this just makes it so much better. I love the history, both human and evolutionary. Unfortunately road to sun was closed due to fire and we had to skip. But given previous experience I don’t think you can go wrong with this app.
