pauses every minute
Its annoying trying to listen to a book and then having to go back into the app to unpause it.

This once free service is now unusable. The free version forces an ad every 30 seconds. Outrageous.
Update: This problem has been fixed and the new app is working just like the old versions. Not without occasional glitches and issues, but I’m happy to report that the initial issues have been addressed. Happy to return to using it.
November 2024 update:
App has become nearly unusable again. It works for about 15 minutes, and then audiobooks pause. You have to open the app (as the lock screen commands don’t work), press play again, only to get about 1 to 2 minutes of audio before it pauses again.
Please fix this bug.

Needs updating/bug fix
I’m OK with the ads to keep listening, but I shouldn’t have to have to exit and ad every minute, and I mean every minute there’s a new ad that interrupts the audio. Then I have one minute to listen to the audio, and then another ad interrupt the audio. This app is great for me when I’m working, so to have the continuous interruptions make this app a terrible experience.

Always pausing
App regularly just pauses for no reason. Sometimes 30 seconds sometimes a minute. Have to go back to the app and hit play again. Can’t even do it on car play. Has to be right on the app

Use to be great
I had this app before and now i remember why i dumped it. The old version would allow you to listen to a book uninterrupted and without having to push play to go to the next section, it also allowed for searching by the author not just the title but this latest Version(goldenbook) it not worth the download at all. It’s updates are seriously trash since they started adding Utube and other google based “input’ and all the ads to gain money and force people to add movies etc to their devices when all some of us are looking for is a decent book to listen to while we are doing other things. Not everyone wants to bother with all the games and movie that are just a repeat of all the other “entertainment” sites. Even the ethnic balance in the offered books has changed, it saddens me to say that even thought the old versions had glitches at least the they were quickly fixed and the owners had a good thing going. Now its just not worth the download to have another copycat site were actual books are not priority, too many repetitive movie, gaming, Tube, Netflix types are already showing the same things and the books are even the same.

This would be great except that every minute, and I’m not exaggerating, but every minute the book stops and you have to watch a 30 second ad. EVER SINGLE MINUTE! This is garbag. Update The issue is fixed and it works nicely. Now they need to work on their library. There are a number of excellent books that I can find, but only via titles. If there was an author search, it would be much better. I have found a number of series I want to listen to, but there seems to always be a book missing. Is this because the book isn’t in their library, or is the title misspelled? Or if the books are a part of a series, there should be links to each books from all the others. Anyways, this is a pretty decent app and I have adjusted my rating. Also, just figured out that ‘ (apostrophes) don’t work. Search up Zoe’s War, Zoes War and Zoe War and get nothing. Search Zoe and find Zoe’s war. So anything after an apostrophe results in “nothing found.”

Golden Audiobook
OMGosh! The book has to be restarted every minute! This is fine if you’re sitting around with your device in your lap, but it’s utterly useless if you want to listen while doing something else!

Right when I thought I found my old place in A Storm Of Swords it turns out it’s missing chapters. This is very annoying please fix this I was at a pivotal point near the ending.

Keeps pausing like every minute
I delete it then install it, works fine for the first listen but after the second listen of a book and onwards, it keeps pausing every minute and the forward backwards button on the Lock Screen stop working
This was once a great app
Unfortunately the creators of this app have taken a different direction with their product and it has massively affected user experience.
The audio books automatically pause themselves after around 30 seconds which means you must press play on the app, this triggers an add that is unable to be skipped that also lasts 30 seconds. You must then close the advert before the book continues to play.
If you can imagine doing this for an entire book then this app is for you, otherwise stay away to avoid frustration.

Terrible app
After two minutes of listening you get a commercial; then two minutes again and another commercial. There’s absolutely no way to enjoy a book at all. When you spend more time waiting on commercials then being allowed to listen to the book
30 Second ads play 1 Minute segments
I have no problem with ads in mobile apps, so long as the gap between is reasonable. 5, 10, 15 minutes-it depends on the app. But the frequency of ads for this audiobook app makes it completely useless. A 30 second ad let’s you play a book for one minute. That is not an exaggeration-30 seconds of ad, then 60 seconds of book. Rinse and repeat. I would understand fifteen minute intervals and would love with ten. Five would be unreasonable. One? Unbelievable. Until the ads allow for more playtime Golden Audiobooks is useless on its mobile app.
