Totally unusable
Please can you sort this out as you did previously.
Following my comments below, Jonathan from the developers team has been in regular contact and has worked hard to try and fix my problems, at the monument the app seems to be working well, although some of the translations are inaccurate. I’d like to amend my previous rating based on the excellent help given and hope that the app continues to work and improve.
Previous review - it’s stopped working and says something has gone wrong which has been reported to their engineers, this has been going on for over a week and the app is now totally useless, so my original review below now longer applies other than to say it hadn’t improved on my comments.
I really like the app, the interactions are good. However it’s twice restarted the lessons at the beginning and I can’t see how to go back to the level I should be on which is frustrating.
Also when giving answers the app doesn’t always give adequate time for you to speak and can mishear your reply when it is actually correct.

Good; still need feedback on the pronunciation
I liked the conversation part where you could interact with others in the virtual town, but the app just told me what sentences to say. Of course, it would be great if I could pick my own spontaneous sentences, then the app could adjust and have a true conversation.
So it’s a good app for pronunciation. It’s not so great for spontaneous conversation.

Thanks for your review. We're really glad to hear golingo is helping you with your pronunciation. I've fed your comments back to the team. We have developed AI conversations which allow for spontaneous conversations. These unlock as you complete lessons. This allows you to put in to practice what you've learnt in previous lessons. They're also available to access straight away in Explore mode. A subscription is required to access these because of the costs involved in using AI technology. An interesting app but lacking a few things to make it a good experience
I have found that since my other language learning app mixes both North and South variants of Welsh, I’m not sure what course to pick, I wish I could get both.
Additionally, the interface is very confusing; if you’re coming back to the app after a long hiatus there’s not really an easy way to start back at the beginning of the course.
I really wish the app would let me tell it how to say my name. I keep getting marked down in my speaking when I’m pronouncing my own name correctly because the app decided it should be said in a way that is not how it is pronounced.
Finally, I wish there were more lessons to get you familiar with the words before jumping straight to speaking, or at least keep the words on screen. The lesson will say something like “say ‘My name is…’” and I’ll be lost because the app doesn’t really teach you vocabulary, it shows you the words in two short sessions before and I end up having no idea what to say.
The app has a lot of potential but for me it still needs polish in the above areas. If those were improved, I could see myself using it a lot more.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review. It really helps us a lot. Sorry there isn't an easy way to get back to the beginning of the course. You can repeat lessons by going into Explore mode in your Settings but we do realise this isn't perfect. We are planning to introduce a 'revise' mode and we'll post about it on social media when it's ready. I've fed back to the team that you're being scored down for the pronunciation of your own name. Hopefully we'll be able to fix this. As we're primarily a speaking app, we have presented groups of words together in 'chunks' which can be learnt as a unit. This works particularly well for certain languages in the app but we may need to break down the Welsh further. If there are particular phrases you are struggling with, please send them to us in an email to hello@golingo.co.uk and I can feed these back to the Welsh team. We're in the process of building out our Welsh content so if you have any other comments or feedback I'll make sure they're fed back to our Welsh course creators. We would also recommend that language learners immerse themselves in a variety of different content to learn a language. Our primary aim is for golingo to plug the gap for speaking practice which a lot of language learners lack. Thank you for your support and good luck with the Welsh learning.
