Excellent idea, could be more helpful

I really love this app in theory. It is a great resource for trying to shop more ethically! I find it's most helpful when used to look up a company I'm considering buying from, read their research/rating, and make an informed decision about whether or not to buy. Where I think the app falls short is as a resource to discover new companies. It is difficult to use the filters to bring up companies that can actually provide what you are looking for in price range, product, or origin. I assume that the creators are Australian because there is a disproportionate number of Australian brands- which is totally fine but there should be a way to filter for country of origin as that is a large factor in environmental impact of the clothing. I have also noticed that the price range is almost never correct (a company with a 150 dollar v-neck might be marked $ while another with 70 dollar pants is $$$). If you are looking for a shoe company for some reason you will only find baby clothes brands! Don't get me wrong: all in all, this is a great resource with lots of good information. I think if it was more carefully formatted perhaps it would be even more useful.

Great in theory

I absolutely love the concept of the app and find myself visiting it whenever I’m in the market for something new. However, many brands aren’t featured and it doesn’t appear to be regularly updated. Recommended alternatives are rarely in the same category, price, or style - it feels very random and unhelpful. I also find the search/filter feature doesn’t work well. I love the app conceptually, but it could use some work to actually be effective in driving people to more ethical brands.

Great resource

Really happy I found it. Looking forward to additional companies being reviewed!!!

Wondering about the sponsored company’s, but trusting “Good on You” does this to promote the good companies and there’s no kick back.

Thank you Good on You 💗

So useful

I’ve had this app for years and love it. I use it for a quick ethical rating of any brand I’m thinking of buying. The ratings are sometimes surprising. Many brands are making ethical claims but failing to supply evidence. Others are quietly leading the way. The developers listen to feedback and continue to make improvements. If a brand is missing, you can request for it to be rated. If you want to let a brand know how you feel about their rating, you can use the app to do this. When browsing brands you can filter, e.g. by location, and it will remember your preferences. One suggestion: you can browse for Plus Size and Maternity fits, how about adding Petite?

Great ethical fashion app

Love this app, it’s my go to now for sustainable clothes and cosmetics. It’s also been really helpful in determining how ethical a brand really is, which has helped me to stop supporting companies that don’t give back to their workers and the environment. Also, you can access the whole thing for free, without a subscription or any ads. Download it!

A game changer

This app completely changed the way I buy clothing. I moved away from well known high street brands to small labels that are truly sustainable - labels I would have never found without the app. Incredible work

Best app for unbiased advice!

This app helped me decide who I want to keep in my world view and who I can finally let go.
It makes shopping much easier and living a more ethical, sustainable and conscientious lifestyle within reach. We are bombarded with so much noise in the world and much of it is dripping with prioritising profits over people
& the planet. This app helps me navigate the noise and sail more smoothly toward those who are making a difference.

Very helpful and insightful

Love the app and use it whenever I consider a new purchase.
Only thing I’d like to see is a ‘men’s’ section when browsing, as most of my searches result in women’s items.
Also I believe the use of animal products, however ‘certified’ is not in any way sustainable or ethical, which should reflect more in the ratings.

Good app, could be better with more stores

I love this app and use it almost daily. The only thing I hope for with this app is that they are able to grow and build their team so they can keep adding more brands and update old ones!

Good concept, needs more work

I like the idea just needs more work. I wish the stores would automatically filter better by country. Sometimes I will click on a store only to find out it's in Russian. Categories are a bit confused. There is no actual swimwear in the swimwear section, just baby clothes. I also don't like how you are not able to click into stores that have a lower rating. You should be able to open any store that is displayed. If it's not sustainable, Why is it included in the app at all? My rating will go up once these elements are fixed.

Every consumer should use this!

Very powerful app that guides us to a more sustainable life. I hope this app keeps growing, and opening people’s eyes to one side of the awful industry that is fast fashion.

I used this app in my research for a fast fashion project, and it was more helpful than I ever could’ve imagined. Thank you.

9.9/10
Please add the ability to sort by the sustainability metrics. I want to know what the absolute most sustainable brand is as far as climate, and what the least sustainable brand is when measured by the People metric… etc.

Highly recommend! Doesn’t take up much space on your phone :)

Makes it easy to make ethical shopping choices

This is my most recommended app whenever anyone asks for advice on where to find clothes. Makes it easy to make ethical shopping choices by clearly outlining strengths and weaknesses of businesses and offering alternatives. Promotes small, sustainable business. Also makes it difficult to justify shopping at fast fashion places. Could be some improvements to UI - for example - allowing you to search by clothing item (Linen Trousers, underwear, etc.) but overall love this app and what it aims to accomplish.

Really great idea 🤍

I want to start by saying that I really enjoy this app. I think it has lots of useful information, features lots of brands, and it is easy to navigate. However, I think that maybe a few tweaks could be made.

When you first open the app, I really like the news/blog posts section. I think its very informative, but I think that maybe it could be in a separate tab. On the home page, I would like to see more suggested brands. Maybe once you have selected your ethical prefefences, the home page could show reccomended brands based on your choices, with images from these brands. These could also be based on your location, similar searches, or just app recommendations. I think that this could be a slightly easier 'starting point' than looking for brands if you don't know where to start.

Similarly, I think that brand pages have lots of useful information about their ethics, which i really like, but you can't see a lot about the brand itself. I think that maybe there could be more images of their products, and maybe having them link to the product on the website.

I also think that the search section looks a little empty. Even by leaving a 'previous searches' section could make this a little easier to navigate. With thousands of brands available, I think that a recent search history on this page would be very useful. Or maybe having the category suggestions underneath the search tab, so that everything is in one place.

With that being said, I think that this is a great idea and I hope to start using it more :)

Good concept

The filters are close to useless for narrowing a search. I put in shoes and get wonderful companies that make hats. i put underwear and get some amazing outerwear. Great concept. Needs work. Still generally like it.

So far so GOOD

I love the way the transparency (or lack there of) of companies is explained. I’m really looking forward to more brands and specific search options being added. They already helped me find an amazing maternity / nursing bra! The Very Good Bra 💕 company in Australia.

Error messages all the time

Error messages or fail to load come up all the time using this app.

Great idea, implementation needs work

I just downloaded this app, and my initial impression is that, although I love the idea, I don't like the way the app is set up. I can't find any place with a simple list of companies listed as five star, four star, etc.

I opened an article on 27 clothing brands of TikTok and when they list the companies, there is a paragraph about each one, but you have to click into their article and read it to find the rating.

Using their own terminology, I rate this app Not Good Enough.

SO HELPFUL

i love this app helping me identify which brands arnt ethical and which ones are!
i think it could do with keep up to date with new brands as sometimes i’ll search for a brand and no information about it is there.

So helpful!

I am not a fashionista, so I seldom buy clothes, but when I do, I always go to the Good On You app to make sure I am making ethical choices. It takes all the work out of researching brands, and for someone who doesn’t like shopping, it’s my ‘go to’ app where I do buy!
