For the old version, it could dictate without any internet connection. But this version, network connection is required when opening the application.

Once that is completed, dictation for all languages should work fully offline. Some advanced features like text styles and polish for non-English languages may still require an internet connection. Love that it’s free for real! Thanks for the languages

This is such a well designed and feature rich app that it’s hard to believe it’s free! It sounded too good to be true but I’ve been using it for months and there is absolutely no paywall. I’ve seen it functioning well even where is no WiFi or network connection which is fantastic and I buy that it is truly private!

I love the latest update adding more languages especially Spanish. Thanks Google!

Regressed in functionality 8/26

You guys really screwed up this app by removing the automatic copy to clipboard after transcribing. You’ve added extra steps which make the app less helpful. Either return the functionality or make it configurable. And, the new interface is a step back too.

Wonderful app to help me on daily logging

I have a habit to log my daily life for years, but due to time constraints and input method limitations, I only log my day before sleep or during weekends. Sometime, I cannot recall every important things that I want to keep in my written memory. This app is a big help that I can try to record my day by speaking from time to time throughout the day, and later dump the logs to my notebook. Glad to have this app, so convenient to record my day without typing.

Can't believe there's only 2 reviews

This app is excellent. I can’t believe there are only two reviews on it. It’s free, lightweight, and works well with Paul Mode all the time for emails, making sure I’m sending messages with no errors.

Tool has improved but cloud wall is BS

Over the last month this tool has improved, but the requirement to use the cloud to do things the local model can do is just plain nonsensical. Additional, their is no way to just keep the original transcript, only polished, which is just dumb as some transcripts are already cleaned from the source and don’t need any “Polish”

Let us keep the original, and only polish if needed. Make it a setting or something.

Awesome, but mic broken!

This used to work perfectly but now you have to have headphones on for it to work for some reason. I can’t just use the regular microphone when you’re speaking into your phone so frustrating because a lot of time I just wanna pick up the phone and talk into it but then I gotta put my headphones on.

Life changing

Between this and Codex and I have drastically reduced how much typing I do. I’ve been caring for a newborn and dictation has allowed me to be much more productive than I thought I would be.

Expected way better from Google

Lost transcripts. App freezes can’t get to my transcripts. Minutes ai is way better.

Dark mode

The app lacks accessibility by not having the option for dark mode, also very difficult to find and sign in. Needs improvements

Amazing free dictation app. Needs dark mode!

I thought I'd use the dictation features in the app to write a quick review. This is good as whisper flow. It doesn't have the integration yet, but this app is amazing. The biggest weakness right now is it doesn't have dark mode.

Also, it seems like for people with newer phones, it would be nice if they added the ability to have offline mode and actually download a small model to your phone, so that way you could use the other features when you're in offline mode. That seems like a big win.

But this app is amazing and it is right there and easy to use, even in offline fly mode, it does a great job. Cleans up your speech. I highly recommend it. Just hope they had dark mode soon because Dark mode is much better.

Phenomenal when it works

This app is awesome when it works and does exactly what it says but unfortunately there have been multiple times where I will give a two minute brain dump looking for a nice transcript and then it just does not return anything and I have to to try a couple times and by that point it would just be faster to type it myself

Really good functionality

I am still learning English and have errors in my grammar or spellings. Eloquent really does a great job fixing these issues. This makes my communication with English speaking clients very smooth. Thanks Google!

I am very impressed that Google offers such a high quality dictation app for free! I have really formed a regular habit of using voice now to reply to my emails messages and whatsapp. Waiting for more languages support

A great way to increase productivity

This is a really great app, and it seems like the developers are actively looking at the reviews and creating solutions. For example, there is now a native Mac app that works particularly well. Syncing of the dictionary via my Google login would be appreciated.

While I agree with other reviewers that a keyboard version would be fantastic to reduce friction, I think that's more of a restriction on how keyboard apps are allowed to be built in the iOS ecosystem.

The app is fast and has nice UX touches. As an example, when a recording is done, it automatically copies the text to the clipboard, so you can switch apps and paste the output straight in.

One area of improvement might be looking at the live transcription, specifically the ability to pause and manually edit and fix something. It would be nice to have some level of manual control over editing when paused, before the polishing happens. Polishing happens as you press the stop button in this app.

All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. It seems like an extremely powerful tool that is available free of charge.
