Great idea but poor translations

I mostly use Gotcha Screen Translator for simplified Chinese to English. I use it many times a day, so the concept is very useful and the app is critical to my day to day. I wish I could give it a higher rating but the translations are absolute garbage and half the time they make no sense. If I take the same screenshot and put it through Google Translate, it comes out perfectly and coherently. I have it in High Accuracy mode, which causes the translations to go very slow. It would be nice if I actually got some high accuracy for the speed tradeoff.

Interestingly, I can even turn on my camera and use this app to translate words in real life.

Taobao and Elema help 🤩

Love it for taobao. As an expat trying to buy anything on elema, taobao, etc. it can be challenging with a lot of screenshots. Now it’s easier.

Great Potential if Pricing Improves

The app is good and very convenient to use, but the price is too high. Please add a yearly subscription and make the price lower. I would definitely subscribe if the cost were more reasonable.

Very nice and meet my expectation

not only works perfectly on translating Chinese apps, but also works for apps in other languages. The built in shortcut is super convenient, once setup, I rarely open the app, just open for adjusting target language. Must have app if u frequently go to other countries.

Solves my problem

There is literally an app or WeChat mini program for everything in China but many of them do not have an English version. Gotcha solves my problem by providing good translation in one click with me staying on the app/page I have open.

Great Screen Translator!

This app is perfect for those who use Chinese apps when traveling to China like me. For example when ordering the food on “Meituan”, I no longer need to take a screenshot of the screen, upload the photo to other translation apps, and then switch back to the food ordering page. It is way more convenient by using the Gotcha app!

Must-have app for traveling in China

Traveling in China for one month, while the experience has been incredible, the language barrier in China is huge. Almost everything in daily life is handled through apps. But most apps offer little to no proper language support. Even when there’s an English version, it’s usually incomplete and doesn’t cover the essential features. Gotcha Screen Translator is a game changer. Instead of switching between apps to translate, Gotcha overlays clean, instant translations right on top of any app. It even works inside mini-programs the ones you always use in restaurants to check menus and place orders. The translation layout is seamless and the translation for menus actually makes sense!!!! I also tried some other apps, but their design and tech feel outdated. No one is as well-tailored for translating Chinese apps as Gotcha. This app clearly stands out. If you’re a foreigner in China, this is the one you absolutely need. Highly recommended!

Super Useful for Navigating Chinese Apps!

Many Chinese apps do not support other languages, using apps like Meituan or Taobao was a nightmare—until I found Gotcha Screen Translator. It instantly translates whatever’s on the screen, directly over the app interface. No need to switch apps or copy/paste. It’s accurate, fast, and blends in seamlessly. I’ve used it almost everyday. I also tried some other apps, but the layout and accuracy just cannot compete with Gotcha. Gotcha is hands-down the best Definitely a must-have if you're traveling or living in China!
