What's New in GoToAppleMaps

2.1.0

October 17, 2026

• Conversion now runs on your device with Apple Maps, so there is no more “daily limit reached” wait. It keeps going while you use other apps or after you close the window, and you get a notification when your guide is ready. • An interrupted conversion picks up where it left off. • A new look: every screen rebuilt in the native Liquid Glass style, with black-and-white controls and full Dark Mode. • Mac: Settings & Support is now one clean window. • The experimental Day Trip planner has been retired.

Great app

This app was really helpful for making the switch from Google Maps to Apple Maps. One thing I had to change, though, was how I organize my saved places.
I tend to keep multiple lists rather than having everything in one general “Favourites” folder. For example, if I visit a restaurant, I might add it to a list for that city, another list called “Restaurants,” and maybe a third called “Bars.” This makes it easy to share a list of just restaurants, just bars, or both.

When adding my saved places using this app, I found that exporting Saved instead of Maps (Your Places) creates CSV files for all of your individual lists. That worked really well for my setup.

The only downside is that I had to import each list individually. Otherwise, Apple Maps would group everything together under a single “Guide.” It’s a bit more work, but overall this app made the transition from Google to Apple much easier.

Difficult to use without paying

Difficult to use without paying - I managed to save only 4 places before the paywall went up

Response from developer

Thanks for the honest feedback, and sorry the paywall caught you by surprise. The app includes one full conversion for free (any list up to 365 places), and the one-time unlock covers everything after that. Your 4-place list used that free conversion, so the second one asked for the unlock. Two things that may help: the website at gotoapplemaps.com converts lists for free, and if you email dautovri@outlook.com with the list you were trying to save, I will convert it for you personally. I am also making the free-conversion rule clearer in the app so it is not a surprise. — Ruslan

Not good

I have tried 5 times now. When I extract the zip file, then proceed to import the “saved places” JSON file, this software app, labels it as an “invalid file”.

Response from developer

Sorry about this, and thank you for trying five times. You found a real gap: the app reads the CSV files in your Google Takeout export (the "Saved" folder, e.g. "Want to go.csv"), but it does not yet read the "Saved Places.json" file from the "Maps (your places)" folder, which is why it says invalid file. Until the fix ships, either import those CSVs, or drop the JSON file on gotoapplemaps.com, which already supports it. If you email it to dautovri@outlook.com I will convert it for you and send back the guide. — Ruslan
