Easy to use!

Update 2026-06-23: I sent the author an email asking if this was strictly GPS or also used the much more accurate accelerometer in my phone. No answer. 🫤 I consider it a fun toy only.

Original: This is a *very* easy to use app! I’m not sure how accurate it is yet, as I’ve only used it two or three times and don’t have anything else to compare it to (now that LapTimer has been disabled by BMW on my M550i — argh 😠).

Doesn’t work

Just doesn’t work for me. Displays current and top speed so it registering something but as to getting 0-60 to work absolutely nothing

Can’t scroll down to reset buttons on IPhone SE

I tried using my app on my iPhone SE, but can’t scroll down to one of the buttons at the bottom

Review

The app is cool, it tracks speed and 0-60 and so on. I have an actual draggy and it said 3.8 0-60 on my draggy but on the APP it said 4.6 so whatever time you get subtract around 0.8 seconds. I know it’s hard to track a cars speed, especially a slow to quick speed through GPS and satellites so I give it props for giving me a close time but it’s a bit off and that’s fine.

Nope

Does not want to work for me. The reset button does nothing you have to go in and hit race time all over again leaves your speed settings on screen the 60 foot timer starts while you’re still setting still pretty much aggravating and useless.

FAQ

What does the GPS Race Timer app do?

This app uses your iPhone's GPS to accurately measure vehicle acceleration times, such as 0-60 mph, 60-120 mph, and 1/4 mile distances. It is designed to operate without needing manual input while driving, starting measurements automatically based on speed or detected motion.

What are the key features of the free version?

The free version allows you to measure acceleration times and distances using preset or adjustable timers. You can save your results locally on your iPhone and export them for later use. The free version limits measurements to two times per run.

How much does the app cost?

The app is free to download and use, with a free version that measures up to two times per run. An optional PRO version is available as an in-app purchase, offering additional features like parallel timers, elevation difference determination, and reaction time measurement.

What are the benefits of the PRO version?

The PRO version unlocks advanced features such as running up to four timers in parallel, precise determination of elevation differences, simulation of a Sportsman start with reaction-time measurement, and removal of ad banners. These features provide more comprehensive performance analysis.

How do I use the app to measure acceleration?

First, check and adjust your timer settings while stationary. Then, securely place your iPhone in the car where it has good GPS reception. Start your acceleration test, and the app will automatically begin measuring when the target speed is reached or motion is detected.
