About

GPS Stakeout turns a written property description into corners you can walk to. Photograph a printed deed with your camera, paste the text, look up a PLSS section, enter a single bearing-and-distance line, or import a KML boundary — then the app plots the parcel and guides you to each corner with live distance and bearing, plus a haptic pulse when you arrive. Built for two kinds of use: exploring your own land — walking your deed, seeing your parcel's shape, and getting an approximate sense of where your lines run — and serving as a field aid for licensed surveyors and their crews. NOT A SURVEY. GPS Stakeout shows approximate, deed-derived locations anchored by your device's GPS. It is not a boundary survey and does not replace one. Only a licensed Professional Land Surveyor can establish or certify a property corner. For anything legal or precise — a fence, construction, a sale, or a boundary dispute — rely on a licensed survey. FEATURES Scan a deed with your camera — on-device text recognition, works offline Paste or type a deed — bearings and distances in feet, chains, rods, metres and more, including curve calls PLSS section lookup (U.S.) — township/range/section corners from BLM data Single line — one bearing and distance to stake a course (free) KML import (Pro) — bring in a boundary from Google Earth or county GIS Navigate to any corner — real-time distance and bearing, with an arrival haptic Map view — boundary and corners on standard or satellite maps, with a live GPS accuracy ring VR boundary overlay (Pro) — property lines on your live camera view External GPS support — connect a Bluetooth receiver (XGPS160, Bad Elf, Garmin GLO) for tighter accuracy Magnetic declination correction — align older deeds surveyed from magnetic north to true north Feet or meters — choose your units; defaults automatically to your region KML export (Pro) — open your boundary in Google Earth and other tools Private by design — your plats and location stay on your device No subscription — one optional one-time Pro upgrade Whether you're a landowner curious about your own boundary or a survey crew in the field, GPS Stakeout gets you from a paper description to the right spot on the ground.

What's New in GPS Stakeout

1.11

August 19, 2026

Thanks for downloading GPS Stakeout! This update polishes the experience: • AR boundary overlay: the on-the-ground property view is now labeled "AR" throughout, and Re-Align snaps to the corner you're standing on to remove GPS offset at that point. Corner and distance labels are larger and less cluttered. • Deed parser: now reads a bearing-and-distance course even when a distance is missing its foot mark, with a flag to verify against your plat. • Fixes: the accuracy readout no longer overlaps the iPad compass, the bundled sample plat shows on first launch, and Bearing Basis controls are clearer.
