About
Gradient turns a complete AI engineering course into an illustrated magazine for iPhone and iPad. Read a few stories a day, test yourself, and explain each idea back in your own words.
The lessons come from AI Engineering from Scratch by Rohit Ghumare and contributors, an open-source course under the MIT license. Gradient is an independent app built on that course. The course authors did not make it and do not endorse it.
WHAT YOU LEARN
• 20 issues and 523 stories: Python and math, classic machine learning, deep learning, transformers, LLMs, retrieval (RAG), tools and MCP, agents, and running AI in production.
• 12 learning paths, such as Applied AI Engineer and Agent Systems Engineering.
HOW A DAY WORKS
• Pick a goal and a daily time. Gradient builds a plan and shows today's stories.
• Each issue opens with an illustrated cover. Each story has figures, diagrams and code.
• See the output of each lesson's code from a reference run, next to the code.
• Take quick quizzes and pop quizzes. Missed questions come back later for review.
• Teach it back: explain an idea in two sentences. Gradient checks your answer against three key points and shows the one you missed.
• Ask the tutor about any section. On devices with Apple Intelligence, the tutor runs on the device.
PRIVATE AND OFFLINE
• Every story, figure and quiz is on your device, so Gradient works offline.
• You need no account. Gradient has no ads and no tracking.
• Gradient Cloud is optional. When you turn it on, your question goes to our server for an answer, with a daily limit.
Gradient is free, for iPhone and iPad, and made for iPhone Duo.
