About
Learn Japanese grammar for the JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) N1–N5: 754 sentence patterns, starting from kana. Kana and N5 are free.
You know what the pattern means, but what form goes before it? What's the actual difference between ばかり and たばかり? These are exactly where JLPT grammar trips people up.
ONE CARD PER PATTERN
754 patterns from N1 to N5 (N5 99 · N4 115 · N3 170 · N2 164 · N1 206). Each card shows:
• Connection: what form comes before the pattern
• When to use it: meaning and feel, with the limits spelled out
• Examples: 1–3 per pattern, with a scene illustration and Japanese audio
• ○ / × contrast: a mistake learners really make, and the fix
• Similar expressions and a logic diagram: one line on how they differ, plus the structure at a glance
LOOK-ALIKES, SIDE BY SIDE
Patterns are grouped two ways: similar in form (ばかり / たばかり) and similar in meaning (わけがない / はずがない). Each group has a comparison table, examples that differ in just one spot, a one-line summary and comparison questions. A group appears once you've learned and reviewed its patterns.
PRACTICE THE REAL QUESTION TYPES
文法形式の判断 (four-choice), 文の組み立て (sentence ordering) and 文章の文法 (passage fill-in), plus extra multiple-choice practice on confusable patterns.
KNOW EXACTLY WHERE YOU WENT WRONG
After a miss you see where it went wrong, the clue in the question, the correct answer, the full sentence, translation and audio. Expand any option's explanation, even when you're right. Missed questions go to your mistakes list and come back on a spaced schedule.
SEE WHAT SHOWS UP OFTEN
Each card shows "Tested N times since 2010", compiled by the app from the past questions it collected. It's not official statistics and doesn't predict future exams. Patterns without data say so. Sort by frequency to review the common ones first, and export your favorites as a PDF.
LISTEN ON THE MOVE
Japanese examples play in the background, with speed control and a sleep timer. Choose Japanese plus translation, or Japanese only. Some examples don't have translation audio.
