The best app for backcountry trip planning and maps
This is the best app by far for any backcountry trip planning. The maps are clear, there’s some really helpful terrain layers and it makes trip planning a breeze with the ability to draw routes and add waypoints. The community page is helpful to see beta and conditions, and to get ideas for future adventures!

Backcountry mapping
This was the best web browser app I could find that works on your phone for the back country. You can plan on desktop and make routes easily that are available for use offline on your phone
Drains Phone Battery
Great app with lots of features. BUT it drains the battery really badly when you record a trip.
The app is too “beta” for the price
I tried the free trial and felt that the app is too “beta” for the price. It is just Mapbox’s 3D map (that you can find in number of other apps), plus some user generated content with local info.
Feels very fresh for now: tiles blink and jump, span jumps to inadequate locations, stranger things happen when you resume it from background.
