Graph Cut - Terrible app!
Can't get it to do anything, no help, and obnoxious ads! Don't bother with this one.
Not useful
The automatic image cutting helps. However, when the automatic cutting is not quite right, the app should provide manual tools, such as zoom, mark, erase, etc. I don't think this app has all these tools available. There are other free apps that can do better.
Not bad
This uses basic color detection it works best with a non-busy background. If you have too much going on in the background can't tell the difference between what you want to say and what you want to get rid of. But for simple backgrounds it works pretty good.
Works remarkably well
The app is super easy to use and actually works pretty well to cut the subjects of photos off of backgrounds automatically. There have been some pictures that it hasn't been able to do. Also for just applying simple photo filters and/or marking up photos this works well and is dead simple

Actually Works Pretty Well - With Clearly Defined Subjects
This app surprised me by doing a fairly decent job of extracting subjects from backgrounds. But there are a few caveats, and the biggest is that the subject and background need to be pretty clearly differentiated. Otherwise the app struggles. Although, with more careful defining of background and subject, it did a pretty good job, even then!
I started with an image of a couple holding hands, walking down a city street. The background was complex, and using a single swipe, (like the sample images show), resulted in a selection of the couple that was literally not much wider than the red line itself. Well, that's when I learned that you need more than just a few swipes to select what you're after. In fact, it tok about 5 minutes' worth of swiping and erasing to get a good selection, but once I did, the result was pretty good.
I say "pretty good" because one drawback is that this app currently lacks the ability to zoom in on your image to get really precise detail. So in this case,the area between the legs was not cut out, because I couldn't zoom enough to exclude it.
My second image was more basic: a group of red strawberries with green tops, placed on a cream-colored plate. Needless to say, the app did a great job of selecting the fruit from the background, and required only minor touch-ups.
Granted, the contrast was much greater, and that made for a much simpler load for the app to figure out. But if you have well-defined subjects, this app has the ability to do what earlier versions of Photoshop did... for less than 2 dollars!
Yes, there's no ability to "Refine Edges" or feather your selection, but hey... what do you expect for $1.99?
The app also is in need of a simple "Back" button, to return to selecting after you've looked at your result, and decided it needs more fine-tuning.
At first, it seemed like I'd have to start from scratch, but if you touch the image, it will return to where you were -- complete with all your selection swipes intact. But it's not intuitive. Users need to know they can get back to where they were, without having to fiddle with the app on their own. A choice of buttons which said, "Finished" or "Go Back" would be nice.
Also, the app allows you to change the output quality to "High", but this should be set to best quality by default. It should be assumed that people who are interested in an app like this, (which is all about using layers and PNG files), care about having the best quality for their pictures.
In the settings tab there is also a list of other apps made by this Developer, but I appreciated that you're not hit over the head with advertisements. It was subtle and tasteful, which is getting pretty rare these days.
Overall, this app is pretty good at what it does. If they add a few simple upgrades, it should be a useful tool, especially if your needs aren't too demanding. Or, (if they eventually add the ability to zoom in), if you're willing to give it more time to get more precise. Then this will be a great little tool for collage artists and those who love to layer their images.
