Extremely Bad
Fell for the con. Absolutely appalling. When I return to the US I will never tire of warning people to avoid at all costs.
Useless - App incompatible with older phones
Latest updates to this App no longer work on older iPhones rending apps useless as cannot continue to use older version of app!
Avoid
They are late so often and then make it so difficult to file your Delay Repay claim (with broken webpages, denial of claims for spurious reasons, etc). AVOID!
Spam
Just tried to look at my ticket in the app and got bogged down in a flood of marketing spam. @GWR - in case you’re not yet aware - SOME PEOPLE HAVE A TRAIN TO CATCH
Nice and easy.
But would be nice if you could book a train to and From Newbury rather than next station along
It would also be nice if your travelcard stayed on your profile

Better than National rail app
Always works better than the national rail app
Requires connection & sign in
App now requires a login EVERY time you open the app, which requires an internet connection which you may not have, in order to simply view your tickets. This defies the point of an App and needs fixing urgently.
Utterly rubbish
Utterly rubbish. Difficult to navigate. Complicated ticket prices. Need to sign in EVERY time you use app and it DOESN’T remember your password. AVOIID IF YOU WANT TO KWEP YOUR SANITY!!!!!
Disjointed and painful
Can you please tell me why you’re selling me a train ticket with included PlusBus bus travel to the station, but then forcing me to travel to the station beforehand to collect a valid ticket? I’ve now had to pay twice to catch the bus.
This is a disjointed experience, and you were insufficiently clear during the ticket purchase that I’d need to travel to the station beforehand.
Could I suggest two improvements:
- Deliver the PlusBus QR code into the app, so the end-to-end customer experience works
- Pending that, make it much clearer to your customers attempting to purchase the PlusBus add-on that they will be required to collect it beforehand
Apart from that, your app is fairly decent, but with one issue: you make it very difficult to return to a previous search (including time & date) so comparing journeys is a huge hassle - as is returning to a search.

Daily apologies on the train
But no apologies for an app whose core feature is to consistently and reliably log people out, forget the selected rail card every time, and make normal booking so very tedious.
Terrible experience
Round trip and one-way tickets are the same price, so I attempted to book round trip and ended up with a one way ticket. I couldn’t change it online and had to buy a new, proper two-way ticket at the station. Then, try to get a refund online and you need to log in to a refund portal, except guess what - your credentials for the ticket app aren’t the same. So you have to create a GWR account in addition to your second GWR app. Then you still can’t simply get a refund. You have to fill out 8 pages of questions, including typing in extremely long alphanumeric codes four times - two for your first ticket and two for your next ticket. Then, guess what, one of the four codes doesn’t even exist! You need to enter the booking reference for your new paper ticket, but there is no booking reference for your paper ticket. You would have an easier time filing paperwork in Soviet Russia than this terrible service. Who even knows if I get a refund? I have to wait a month for someone to review it. Then I also had to provide my card info to get the refund, but guess what, I already provided it. Not good, you must do every complicated thing twice because once is not enough. And then you might get a fee for your refund. This is the sort of experience that totally ruins your day and never makes you want to use a company’s service again.

Friendly service
Being visitors to the country, we were a little apprehensive trying the trains, but everyone has been super friendly and helpful.
Pretty pointless
This isn’t an app. It’s a log in screen for a browser.
Failing to see the point
Why can’t we change an email address in my account?
Having to sign in every single time is annoying enough. I’m failing to see the point of this app.

Ios16
This app requires ios16.6. No way am I spending £450 for a new iPad …..bye
Constantly logs out?
Great, other than having to log in every time I use it.
Mr
Try adding card for payment, adding billing address, but the country part keep disappearing after selected UNITED KINGDOM from pull down manual. What a joke!
Gets worse not better
I use GWR every week to go to work and my kids use GWR to get to college. They have given up using the GWR app because “it sucks” and pay to use Trainline. I stick with it, hoping one day it will improve, but the most recent release made it worse and now for some unfathomable reason, I’m forced to login every time I open the app. When there is no signal (commonly) I can’t login or show staff my ticket. GWR staff at my local station unable to help. Time to give up!

Nice and easy.
Difficult to see the stations and times the train stops at.
More annoyingly my ticket was surprisingly expensive as I assumed like other train apps, it would remember my type of rail card, but it turned out you have to add your (senior) railcard every time

Clean/nice staff
This company never fails to impress although at the moment I’m experiencing difficulties trying to sign in on their app. Great cup of tea! Keep up the good work…
