Looking for something to replace old PocketMoney

Edit: i think it’s gotten worse since my last review. I can’t see cleared balances without clicking on each individual account. The transfer doesn’t work. The autofill f/ memory isn’t working well. I can’t edit account names. I can’t make budget reports. There’s more I need it to do, but I can’t look while I’m editing this review. Pocket money in my old Android had been perfect but they upgraded that and then it didn’t work for my needs on Android or in iPhone. I’m still looking for something to help me keep better track of my debt & balances. GreenBooks is basically a checkbook ledger and I’m very frustrated with the amount of things I can’t edit once created.
*End Edit*

I had an old version of Pocket Money, a different bookkeeping app, on Android. Originally had on iPhone but switched to Android & now I’m on iPhone again. That app no longer has the functions it used to & I can’t find help for the version I had in my now old phone. GreenBooks on iPhone has ability to have more than one account, split categories in a transaction, scheduled repeated recurring transactions, and shows my cleared balance & my balance of the total of transactions that have posted. So far, it’s the closest app I’ve found with features I need. And I’ve liked at many!

Not 5 stars tho because lacking several features I had become accustomed to: I wish it showed (swiping between) current balance, cleared balance (it shows this), available credit, available funds, & future balance (it shows the balance of all payments posted not cleared & not the scheduled repeating transactions I have yet to post).

I wish the app had the ability to input more credit card info: the interest rate, the statement cycle/closing date, the institution, the phone & website, the credit limit, the exp date, the account #, & fees possible (over limit, late payment, annual, etc), in the credit card accounts.

I wish all accounts listed had an option to include or not to include them in ā€œtotal worthā€.

It would be nice if the app had another feature for budgeting to create a budget, and then when running reports or I guess it works be called viewing the breakdown of where my money went, I would be able to see how my income and expenses compared to my planned budget.

So far it’s the closet I’ve come to having all the features I need. I can add checking, savings, credit, and cash accounts. I can create my own & multiple categories. One transaction can have split categories. I can schedule recurring transactions. It shows cleared balance and total balance of everything posted. It so back up to iCloud. It has an option for a passcode. It’s off to a great start!

Optimal

Been using this app since it was known as Savings. Has everything you need and nothing you don't.

Worthy of your consideration.

Update November 22. The app still works great but when using the app on an iPad (no iPad native application) and you have split transactions, you can’t enter all of the data. . Update August 22. I didn’t reach the free 100 limit but I went ahead and purchased the iOS version any way. Well thought out app that’s easy to use.
IOS version does not have a search function and there are no breakdown charts (you need the Mac app for these). IOS version on iPad is the small iPhone display; it works fine but full iPad support would be better.
There are some helpful startup videos to guide you. Other support is not known. I sent an email with a pre purchase question that I did not receive a reply for after 3 weeks.
MacOS version has the much desired Search, Breakdown chart, and trends. ( I can’t comment on the trends because i am a new user with no older data to display)
Syncing between devices is quick and accurate.
The apps are one time purchases, not subscription based which is good for you the consumer.
I purchased the Mac app but not the iOS app yet.
In conclusion I am confident in saying that this is a worthwhile purchase to see where your money goes.

What am I paying for?

I’m not thrilled that I spent $35 on this app plus the $10 unlimited license. It does not link up with every account or display transactions from before the current pay cycle, so it’s difficult to gauge your average spending. App on Mac has a lot of issues like not displaying full sentences, not being able to fully delete or unlink previously linked accounts, etc. Not worth the cost.

Great!

App has been very useful.

Does what l need!

Lost my computer and needed a new app. Found this one, easy to use once you get into it, works well enough. Thank you!

Numbers tell the truth…

I’ll be using GreenBooks for over a year now daily and have noticed that I started achieving more of my saving goals. Through visualizing my spending with the easy to use diagrams. And I’m putting spending through the wonderfully simple UX, which syncs through iCloud, i’m able to log expenses on the spot, increasing awareness of my spending. I highly recommend this app. It has a perfect amount of features and doesn’t add superfluous trinkets. I personally enjoy the fact that I don’t have to sync my accounts as I enjoy logging each thing myself. Additionally, I grabbed screenshots of my spending categories every month and utilize Gemini to help me analyze my budget. Thank you so much for such a wonderful!

Great App

I’ve been using checkbook. It didn’t have the ability to split categories in the transaction. GreenBooks has this feature. So far, I’m loving it. It will definitely help me track my spending in Walmart (so many categories on one receipt). I didn’t need all of the bells and whistles with the bigger bookkeeping applications. Just a check register that splits categories of each transaction.

After using the free version for a week or two, I purchased the unlimited version. Not had any issues. It does exactly what I expect. Highly recommend.

Well pleased

Found this app by chance, so easy to use, love the iCloud facility.

Best bang for your buck

I have checked into several other simple personal money managers over the last couple of years. GreenBooks is the best for this purpose for my family. Only complaint would be not able to edit the list of Payee’s to Add, Change, or Delete like you can with the Categories. Mentioned this 2 years ago and recently again last week with no response ever!

Great app

The app is simple, straightforward, and easy to use. Best part is it syncs between devices. But I wish the iPhone app had a search feature like the laptop version.

No yearly transactions ?

Not bad so far, need to use it some more to evaluate.
After looking closer at this app i find it certainly does do yearly transactions just by the month instead

Simple to use

Great simple checkbook manager. Really like the simplicity of it syncing between devices. Couple others I have used this never worked.
One improvement, make it so you can show pending charges in the book. Then mark cleared when they do. So true available balance is known.

Accountant

I absolutely love this app
