not great

too expensive, opting for the free version means your app is filled to the brim with ads just to speak to a slightly larger than small handful of people...

This app is absolute garbage

This app is nothing like it used to be when it was originally rolled out on 2009. 99% of the guys on here do nothing but play games and are just there to seek validation; once they get it you’re ghosted. That leaves hookups at a measly 1%. And on top of that Grindr is so money hungry with the constant bombardment of ads, their own ads to try and get you to upgrade to unlimited and the plethora of fake profiles wanting you to subscribe to their onlyfans.

If you’re seeking out the worst of the worst in the gay community they you’ve come to the right place.

Absolutely horrific

The design of the app is actually really good and an excellent competitor to the other main ones; however, I was met with nothing but actual pr05titut3s, bots, and people who attempted to blackmail me. Really gross, nasty, unmoderated app that could get a lot of innocent/unaware people in unnecessary trouble.

Ughh

Since new update I can no longer login via my google account it just keeps saying “one moment please” and then times out, fix this, I would prefer not to make a new account.

Age verification does not work

So I mistyped my age in a message when someone asked for my age, and it flagged the auto age verification system, making me go through a screen in which I had to verify my age as a result. I showed my face and ID over 21 multiple times and it still didn’t verify me. Fix your Facetec system Grindr!

No messages update

The messages section shows i have a message but i go there and there’s no updates. The A-list section has a dot next to it but im not paying 350 bucks for that. If i delete and redownload the app, then the messages appear but never before that. Fix your app.

Not worth it

Clearly in the game to maximize profits. Although I paid for ad free service, I was inundated with Madonna album release as well as ED meds. Further, cloned profiles and bots dominate some areas. Used to be great.

Banned Account

Grindr may be the best app but, they, banned my accounts and,8 no longer have access to Grindr or to my Grindr accounts. Which sucks because, I lost so of my contacts there. And they say I was Phishing, Fraud, and using bad links. Which I don’t know what that means. My identity was stolen and, I can’t do anything about it. I can’t try to recover my identity either because of apps like these with their third parties buying someone’s information off from the black market. Which I have no ideas it existed. Sorry Grindr for this bad review.,

This App is Rubbish

If I could I give it no stars.
This app gets worse every time there’s an update which makes no difference I feel. To many advents now. No matter what you do on app they pop up constantly which is starting to get annoying. Not enough profiles unless you paid the subscription which is not worth it. To many spam accounts and asking for money. If it gets any worse I might as well give up on the app altogether.

Banned for misreading my bio

Had this account for years and suddenly today it has been banned simply because of what I mentioned I do for work. Mind you, it was an FYI as I acknowledged some people have preference especially with dating. And to save my time I mentioned that my career is in the adult industry. I did not whatsoever use any platforms to advertise myself. I know my boundaries and limits and I don’t mix pleasure with business! It was purely an FYI, with that ban in place I can’t be in contact with some people that I was planning to meet in person, date-wise. This truly feels discriminatory.

Definitely isn’t the grinder I thought it was

Nah kidding great app I get serviced every other day because of it god bless Grindr 🙏

Download problem

It is requesting a payment to download the app after tried multiple times

They forgotten where they came from

Grindr has progressively gotten worse with ideas behind the scenes that they think their users want. Why not just sell ads that don’t take up too much time. You have to force close the app. And their fees for the app are too much. What is the owner have a casino habit? Seriously there are much better apps out there nowadays. I’m sure why one little review will not break their company. But maybe they’ll listen. Or maybe you will. You gotta start posting your dissatisfaction with this app. I’m not the only one upset with it.

banned my account .

they randomly banned my account for "using someone else pictures" when it was me. i provided the proof they needed and still nothing . but you guys have countless bots & fake pages all over

Just awful

You’re limited on profiles, you’re limited on distance looking at profiles, you’re limited in even associating with anyone you find interesting. They give you the option to pick profiles - you choose it and the person that the app says is “near your location” is 200+ miles away. Why even show profiles that far away? Want a better experience? Pay anywhere from 12-45 dollars to see maybe a few more possibly interesting people, tap on them they’re 1000 miles away

Received a ban for no reason and haven’t heard anything in 3 weeks

As a user of this app for over 10 years at least, my experience has, as many other users, gone way down over the years. The biggest being the steady removal of features that should be and are standard with other apps, being locked behind an insane paywall. $~30 for a WEEK, that’s right one week, of not even the highest tier membership (that only grants you access to SOME features) is the definition of out of touch. I could keep going but this review would turn into an essay. My biggest problem as of late is I was reported by a petty and vengeful user and received a suspension. I appealed that suspension and have been waiting for about 3 weeks to hear ANYTHING back. Meanwhile on a similar app, I received help from customer service within two days. Grindr has been around for decades at this point, there’s no excuse for this poor treatment of the people who they claim to value the business of. I doubt this review will even be considered as I don’t think they’ll miss just one user, but this will probably be my last time using this sorry excuse of an app. Do better.

Moderation Dictatorship

I got banned randomly because apparently I was selling dr*gs which is crazy, I have never done that. I have mentioned legal medication I am on which is not against the rules and sometimes required. I appealed but have not heard anything in weeks.

FINALLY heard back.

The response… Paraphrased: we don’t have to tell you exactly why you are banned, all the best.

Disgusting.

Soon it will just be spammers on there sending website links.

Well Grindr, go bankrupt for all I care. Thankfully there are plenty of alternatives now.

Real experience

My experience with this app has been extremely negative. I feel that instead of focusing mainly on more marketing and monetization, Grindr should think more about the impact its environment has on users’ mental health.

Ghosting, disappearing without any explanation, and repeated rejection can become emotionally exhausting and for some people contribute to loneliness, hopelessness, and very dark feelings.

I understand that nobody can be forced to reply, but the platform could do more to encourage respectful communication. For example, creating ways to promote positive interaction and accountability instead of only rewarding more engagement and subscriptions.

Right now, it often feels like user growth is more important than the wellbeing of the people using the app.

Notes

One of the best parts of an app where you chat is you can add notes to remind you. Why is there is no option to search the notes??

Digital billboard

If you want to spend more time watching ads than actually using the app, this is the app for you. Features that used to feel basic are now locked behind paywalls or endless advertisements. Unless users stop supporting these increasingly aggressive monetization tactics, the developers will have little incentive to change course
