We built Grindstep to answer the real question. It learns how many seconds each step of YOUR grinder moves a shot - from your own consecutive shots - and hands back the adjustment in your grinder's own units with the math shown: your grinder moves about 2.5 s/step on this bean, so go 2.5 steps finer, 12 to 9.5. The engine is deterministic regression over your own shots; it shows the arithmetic it used, is honest about its confidence, and stays directional until it has learned enough of your grinder to be quantitative. Grindstep is local-first: your shots live on your iPhone, there is no account, and you own it with a one-time purchase.
