Horrible App and experience
First of all, the app was not allowing me to make an account due to me supposedly having a VPN, or at least that’s what the app claimed. Bear in mind, I do not have a VPN or anything of the sort, nor have I ever used one. So, I left it for a while, and with some luck, I was actually able to make an account.
I made the account, got to messaging a couple of people, and then went out to meet with some friends for a bit. When I got back, I tried to log back into my account and get back to the people I had messaged. However, after copying the password sent to me in my email, it said that my username and password were incorrect, even though they were the exact same ones that I had used previously.
After this, I went to reset my password and entered the email address that I used to make the account, and now it’s claiming that I never even had an account.
This has been a horrible experience for me, and I find it disgusting. Please do not use this app unless you want to be ridiculed and have your time wasted.

Response from developer
A social app experience I would not wish on my worst enemy
I downloaded Grokio thinking it would be a fun, community‑driven space. What I actually got was an app that feels like it was coded during a power outage by someone using a trackpad covered in syrup.
🐢 Performance
The app loads with the enthusiasm of a sloth on its lunch break. Every tap triggers a 5–10 second delay, giving you plenty of time to reflect on your life choices and reconsider why you opened the app in the first place.
🔋 Battery Drain
I opened Grokio for four minutes and my phone battery dropped 20%. I’m convinced the app is either running a secret space program or trying to tunnel into the Earth’s core.
🎨 Interface
The UI looks like it was designed by three different people who never met each other. Buttons float in random places. Menus overlap. Half the icons look like they were borrowed from clip art packs labeled “miscellaneous shapes.”
🔔 Notifications
Grokio sends notifications like it’s trying to win a competition.
Examples include:
• “Someone might have looked at your profile”
• “You haven’t opened the app today. Why”
• “We added a new feature. We think. Come check”
It’s like being nagged by a needy robot.
🧩 Features
The app advertises “community engagement tools,” which apparently means:
• A feed that refreshes itself every 30 seconds for no reason
• A messaging system that crashes if you type more than two sentences
• A search function that returns results unrelated to anything you typed
I searched for “Los Angeles” and it showed me three people in Ohio and a picture of a dog.
💥 Stability
The app crashes so often it should come with a seatbelt. One crash was so dramatic my phone froze, rebooted, and then refused to open Grokio again—as if it was trying to protect me.
🧨 Final Verdict
Grokio is less of an app and more of an endurance test. If you enjoy lag, chaos, battery drain, and UI decisions that defy logic, this is the app for you. For everyone else: run.
No back button
As a result, the app becomes frustrating to use and I’m more likely to switch to using the website in a browser. The phone app includes a back button, so this feels like an inconsistency between versions.
What a mess
Outdated app with biased moderation
What’s more concerning is the moderation. In my experience, it doesn’t feel neutral at all. I’ve seen situations where users get involved in political arguments, and instead of keeping things balanced, moderation seemed to take sides. I personally experienced being targeted after expressing conservative/republican views, and instead of handling the situation fairly, moderation appeared to defend the other users involved.
There also seems to be a lot of ongoing drama on the platform that isn’t really managed effectively, which makes the overall environment feel less welcoming and inconsistent.
Overall, the concept of the app is good, but the execution and moderation standards really need improvement if it wants to feel fair and modern.

A Most Vexing and Ungentlemanly Establishment!
I must protest, in the strongest, frilliest aquatic terms available, the recent heinous and scandalous treatment of my dearest companion, Fake. A gentler soul has never strolled the digital parlors of our modern “web.” Yet, upon Ferzu — that pudgy little social salon — Fake found themself blocked by a cluster of Trump-adoring ruffians, whose manners are as coarse as unfiltered pond water.
And what did Grokio’s administrators do when approached for assistance?
NOTHING.
Not even a polite curtsy! Not even a tepid apology! They dared, with breathtaking insolence, to uphold such shabby behavior, as though Fake were some mud-speckled tadpole unworthy of dignified treatment!
I, Lady Petronella, who has survived duels, masquerades, and an unfortunate incident with a bonnet ribbon, declare this:
Never have I seen an establishment so ill-run, so unconcerned with justice, and so bereft of common decency.
Their moderation is slower than a sleepy salamander, their judgment more crooked than a broken water lily stem, and their regard for users as thin as a Regency waistline (and far less fashionable).
Should you value fairness, civility, or the happiness of beloved companions, seek your digital society elsewhere. I would rather dry out for an afternoon than return to Grokio’s damp, mildewed excuse for community management.
One star, only because the system refuses to permit none
