A promising appSeedling

First thank you RHS for the lovely app. I love the concept, its exactly what I was looking for, an app for a guy who knows bilk about produce (especially growing)

Great app except...

Brilliant information, calendar works flawlessly, wonderful tips and tricks for neophyte gardeners.
But the purchasing method doesn't work within the app, and the free content is not as diverse as one would hope it could be. I can understand limiting what is free and paid, but If the paid packages don't work, why shouldn't we get them free?

In app purchase

I really like the app, it helps me remember what I need to be doing for my plants outside. However, recently I purchased the fruit upgrade and I still haven't gotten it. For this sad service I give it a 1.

Good concept

It's a good concept, if you no nothing about what you are growing. Basic info on plants. You can get the same info and more from the net for FREE!!!

I love the interface but I need more plants

I don't care about 16 additional plants. If I'm going to pay three dollars for the upgrade, I need to be able to add all the plants that I need. Otherwise. I love the concept.

Needs more

Very nice app and great idea. I'm not a Gardner but would like to start growing some things of my own. I was shocked to see how few things are listed, needs more!!!! Then it will get 5 stars. Please add more soon!

Useful...

This is a good application for those working on a simple backyard garden or urban farm plot. My family and I use it regularly to help us with ours. I particularly like the To Do feature that has been added recently. The planting and harvesting cycles are helpful for planning out a garden. The common problems information has been helpful too. The RHS has done very well with their descriptions of plants and I appreciate that that they used both metric and imperial units.
Alternately I wish the RHS would add a planner function with the next upgrade. In a planner, I would like information on possible winter planting that would compliment plants that I have chosen. Also, any other off season preparation would be nice. It would also be very helpful to be able to enter the date planted for the particular plants in my garden and then to have to To Do list time-line updated specific to my individual garden. Currently the To Do list is a generic list based on the particular plants. Admittedly, this has still been very useful, but having a bit of personalization on this feature would take this application from good to great.
Overall, this is a helpful application that continues to aid ou.r family. I look forward to updates and the addition of more plants. The free version is good, but it is worth paying for the full version.

In app purchase of 3 dollars

Really too much for what is included. I really hate the free app with an expensive in app purchase. Deleted. Thanks for nothing. Glad it wasn't a buck to start with. When will we get the zero star option.

Great Concept, Needs regional expansion.

I like the great info and the app. concept. One problem, I don't live in the UK, could it be expanded to include different cold hardiness zones?

Great start!

This app is very easy to use and great for the beginning home gardener. It needs a lot more plants though, and a way to determine suitability of plants based on the location of the user (I'm not sure whether or not the paid app has that feature since I have not purchased it yet - I would for sure if it had more plants).

This is a demo

And a poor one at that. It should be designated as a lite version in the description. I downloaded it before the in-app purchase was available, thinking it was a nice, but incomplete app. I waited for additional content, but they added the in-app purchase instead. And few, if any of the new plants are useful, at least in my area.
I would pay a buck for the full app, if I knew the dev would be adding plants more common to my garden at no additional cost.

Needs more content..

Great app, lots of helpful information to starting a home garden. However, it needs much more plant variety to choose from. Herbs? They're one of the most simple first-timer gardens to start. I'd like to see how much this app grows over time...

Great app

This is a great app, I can't wait for them to expand the amount of plants!

Good

Best app ever!!!

Could be a nice app

They do the hard part and build a decent functioning app...and then add few plants. Unless you have the most limited of garden ambitions, pass.

Great app

I am a degreed Horticulturists. I find this app to be very useful for a home garden. I agree there is a lack of plants but the ease of use and amount of information that is provided for the plants they do have is wonderful. Download, give it time, this will be an awesome app. A+ great job.

Nice

Needs more content!

A Great Start

If you are looking for a concept app that is headed in the right direction this is it. There is a great deal of room before it becomes useful and that explains the freeness of it. Would love to fund this app becoming useful but it says they are part of a society so hopefully by versions 3 or so this will be a asset to life. Right now it's just fun to try out and lacking a few features to make it pragmatic. (1) It needs a robust food plant database. Perhaps select the plants from online and download the ones to use offline and reduce local data size. Too few currently. (2) Way to share the selections with other tools. (3) New interface for tossing plant choices into grow bin. (4) Way to know how much to plant for how many people and let them choose to scale up or down but default to that many plants, and list area required by plant sq. ft. ratings. Meaning allow for sq. ft. gardening concepts. (5) Allow data to cover different planting zones. (6) On an iPad version it would be cool to have different planting zones [row gardens, sq. ft. gardens, earth boxes, etc.] and help plant. (7) List the companion planting guides, don't plant twice in same location guides, desease care guides. (or links to these for online ref.)
