Better Than BGG but...
Fun App But Too Many Bugs
I asked a couple of people from my game group to login. They were able to register and log in pretty easily. They requested to join the new club but their apps also crashed.
I liked that you could add some of your favorite games to your profile. I liked that you could add locations, pictures, and information for the club. I like that there was a club chat feature. That’s why I didn’t give this app 1 Star.
I was hoping there was a feature that allowed participants to vote on which games they wanted to play. There was no such option. Additionally, we were unable to sync our BGG accounts. After the app crashed a 3rd time I was done. I’m very disappointed.
Not UK friendly
Poor implementation
Needs some work
Completely not ready for release
Follow up to developers response: I had already tried as you suggested before I posted the above review. I see the red dot in the upper left corner and have “clicked” on it. It takes me to a page with recommended people to follow, people to send friend requests to (who I have already sent friend requests to and they’ve sent requests to me) but no friend requests for me to accept showing up. Again, no way to actually close a connection.
Like the idea
But, I have a lot of games and have rated them all on Board Game Geek. I think there should be some sort of crossover to import/export game information.
Update: BGG has been integrated. Look forward to see where this app goes.
Downloaded and uninstalled immediately due to phone number requirement
Use case? Privacy?
One major red flag is the requirement of a phone number. That’s a major privacy concern. I used a generic google voice number to register because you shouldn’t give out your number to some random app.
I looked at the apps features, and I don’t know what the use case is for this app. There’s no bgg integration (you can’t download your collection or plays). You can share your location to find other nearby gamers I guess, but that’s also another potential privacy concern. Just makes more sense to find a local meetup if you want to find local gamers.
I’m just not sure what the use case is for this app. And the potential privacy issues are problematic.
Response from developer
Hey buddy, thanks for your feedback! 1) phone number - we originally tried to limit mal activities by having phone number as the only ID so mal-intended peeps don’t make a hundred accounts to rate games (because this happened in our alpha test), and since we have offline gatherings, we want to make sure they are aware for security reasons. Your phone number is 100% kept private and won’t be disclosed (unless you choose to disclose it if you’re a store or shop owner). Also per user feedback, we will be enabling email registration starting in late December so kindly look out for that! 2) BGG sync will be available this Friday, given the AppStore review process goes thru! 3) location sharing - you can turn this off both in app and out side of the app, as before we started the app we did a gamer survey and majority of the feedbacks was to find users nearby so we added this function. Since this is still our beta with only one major marketing campaign with the dice tower, we don’t have many users on yet, but once we do you should be able to find more users nearby. Hope this answers your concerns. Cheers!
