Better than gold (for families)

If you have kids, this app is better than gold. I’m not exaggerating — read that again. It teaches them lessons that some adults never learn.

My kids are already internalizing the magic of compounding, saving, and making smart spending decisions. They can see their money grow, they feel the sting of withdrawals, and they’re learning real-world trade-offs in a safe environment.

As a parent, I have full control and visibility, all while paying zero fees. It’s simple, it’s powerful, and it’s setting them up to be successful and responsible with money for life.

This is one of those rare tools that actually changes behavior, not just tracks it. Pure gold.

Kind works

When I first got this app is said failed to load and after a while it finally worked. Then suddenly it stopped working and again said failed to load. Now, two months later it still doesn’t load. When the app works it is really good though

The best

Does exactly what it needs to in a simple intuitive way.
It’s refreshing to have an app that isn’t trying to sell you something every 10 seconds and loaded with ads.
I’ve been using this for several years and it’s worked great. As soon as my kids get money they almost always say “Dad, will you put this in my account?” When we’re at the store and they want something it’s easy to check their balance. It also helps them control their spending because it has savings goals/jars.

A poorly written app for the oddest reasons

This is the only native iOS app I have that can’t keep me permanently logged in. It is also the only one that registers button presses twice if you tap too long. I am an iOS developer and I don’t know how you could get this so wrong. It looks like they used a terrible cross platform framework because there are 10 year old Material Design touches, which didn’t look good on Android when they were new and have no place here.

Great and Simple, exactly right

This is a great app for a simple “Parent is the Bank” idea. In the market today with the complex cards and subscriptions, this fill the perfect on the go piggy bank. It’s core purpose of educating children on savings and spending is right on.

Couple of bugs that need to be cleaned up but overall fantastic.

What does Guardian Savings do?

Guardian Savings is a simple savings tracker designed to help parents teach children about money management. It functions like a digital record of money given to children, turning every financial interaction into a teachable moment. The app helps manage allowance, track savings, and analyze spending habits.

What are the key features for kids?

Kids can quickly see their balance, easily make purchases with parental approval, set aside money for specific goals, and track their progress. They can also separate funds into "money jars" for different purposes, view earning and spending analysis, and choose a fun money mascot. A PIN option is available to keep their balance private from siblings.

Is Guardian Savings free to use?

Yes, Guardian Savings is a free application. It does not have in-app purchases or advertisements, allowing users to access its features without any cost.

How does the app help parents teach financial literacy?

The app is co-designed with teachers to make money interactions educational. It facilitates easy deposits and withdrawals, which increases a child's practice with money. Parent-funded interest incentivizes saving, and automatic splitting of deposits into "money jars" like spend-save-give encourages thoughtful allocation. Analysis of spending can also spark important conversations about financial habits.

What are the parental controls and features?

Parents can set up automatic allowance payments to never forget to pay. They have parental controls to reverse transactions and manage their child's money settings. Additionally, the app provides resources for parents on how to teach and think about kids' financial literacy, supporting their role in guiding their children's financial education.
